I was wondering what kind of California colleges I could get into with a 3.13 uw gpa/4.07 w gpa. I’m currently a junior and in the IB Diploma program and soon will be taking my SATs in March. I know it’s a low gpa and we really can’t tell until I actually do my SATs, but where would I stand with a chance just with my gpa? Thanks.
What is your UC GPA?
Are u a CA resident?
CSU/UC GPA Calculator:https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
How much can your family afford? Home state? Public or Private? PSAT or PLAN scores?
Is UC gpa the same as a CSU gpa? If so, my CSU is 4.11 gpa.
Yes, I am a California resident.
There is no way your uw GPA of 3.13 and weighted of 4.07 could get you a UC GPA of 4.11 unless your uW includes Freshman grades along with non a-g classes? How many A’s, B’s, C’s 10-11th in your a-g courses? Maximum 8 semesters of UC approved Honors /IB/AP courses 10-11th calculated into the GPA. No Health/PE courses included. What is your academic GPA unweighted 9-11 th?
I actually just calculated with the link you posted, I’m not sure if I did it correctly. But does a 3.44 UC gpa look reasonable?
My academic gpa from 9th through 11th so far is a 4.07 gpa.
3.44 looks more reasonable. Any practice test scores? Really need scores to give some recommendations. Cost constraints and major would also be helpful.
Is academic GPA unweighted the 3.13? Asking because CSU/UC’s use their own GPA calculation but privates will use the uW 9-11th plus Senior Mid-year grades and have their own weighting system.
My psat scores are: M:480 CR:460. We didn’t take a writing portion for some reason. Anything less than $40k a year is fine and I would like to be a Biology Major. & Yes, that would be my academic unweighted gpa, a 3.13 gpa.
Since you are in-state California, I would look at the Cal States and UC’s although you need to get your test scores up into the 1100 range (Math+CR) for at least UC Merced and UC Riverside. Your UC GPA is too low for a chance at any of the other UC’s and UCM/UCR will still be a slight reach as a Biology major.
What is your local CSU? At your local CSU, you will have priority, so I would put that school on your list. Here is a link to determine you local service area: http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/csulocaladmission-serviceareas.pdf
For Safeties consider the non-impacted CSU’s: Stanislaus, Dominguez Hills, Channel Islands, Bakersfield, East Bay
For Match (depending on test scores): LA, San Francisco, Sacramento, Chico, Sonoma, Fresno, San Marcos, Monterey Bay to name a few
For Reach: SDSU, SLO, Long Beach
Some privates if interested: Azusa Pacific, Cal Lutheran, Univ of Redlands, La Verne Univ.
The Cal States base admissions on your SAT (Math+CR) or ACT composite and your CSU GPA. They then calculate an Eligibility index where you are ranked based on major. The higher the EI, the better.
Repost once you had some test scores and maybe more recommendations can be made.
Alright thanks a lot!
