where do we good to change majors at orientation?

Upper division econ courses aren’t that difficult at SC, but I usually picked professors carefully to avoid any tough ones. I’ve only experienced upper div econ classes at UCSC, Cal (summer session), and Davis (stayed with a friend for a week - crashed her courses). Cal’s version of intermediate micro econ was really tough and the curve was brutal. My professor wasn’t ranked that high on ratemyprof though, but 100A is pretty difficult at all UCs. Davis’s intermediate micro was between Cal and SC’s, but pretty close to SC’s.

However, UCSC really has interesting upper division electives. I’d actually say that they are more interesting than the rest of the UC’s choices. This is good if you are a student who likes to learn about various subjects that encompass all the economic theories you’ve learned, but some of these classes are more for personal knowledge rather than career skills. So you kinda take your pick I guess. I really enjoyed all the electives I’ve taken, but I kinda wished they had more industry-focused courses within the department.
