Where do you buy stuff for you dorm?

I'm trying to start to get stuff together for my dorm this fall, I'm so excited! Which places are good for comforters, rugs, and fun stuff for my dorm. I know about Target and BB&B, are there any other places that have really cool stuff? Where would you go if money was no factor? Thanks guys!

If money was no factor I would go to pbteen.com for all the bedding and the like. They have some really cool stuff.

i got a down comforter and a cover for it from lands end, and it was about 150 dollars if i remember. It's wonderful, i just got it, and I think in the scheme of thosuands and thousands for school, paying about 30 dollars a year to have it is well worth it to be warm and comfortable all the time.

Where do you go if money is a factor?

urban outfitters! they have really funky stuff!

someonelse - I get a lot of my stuff at Target. The stuff is cheap and quite decent. I really like the Pottery Barn rip-off stuff and the (I don't remember the brand) floor lamps. When stuff gets broken, which it always does in a dorm room, it is cheap and easy to replace. I get linens and bedding from Bed Bath and Beyond - mostly because they'll ship them for free if you're going to school far from home.

IKEA, if you have it where you live!!

Ikea rocks my socks! Funky modern furniture at reasonable prices. actually, you can get just about any type of furniture, pretty cheap at IKEA...catch, you get to put it together. Actually, in a dorm that might be an advantage, easier to get in anyway.

Haha I've always wondered about that question...
Funky furniture sounds fun to perk up colors in a dorm.. who wants a boring room anyways? :]

Can you order IKEA stuff online? I tried to find it on thier website and didn't see it.

It is best to see ikea stuff in person. They have really cool stuff at really great prices but you can only really identify the quality when you see it in the store.

The store models ARE the same ones you buy and assemble so if the display chair has been going strong for a long time, its good and vice versa. I love that they have made scandanavian design in reach of poor college students but not all of their products cary the same durability as their much more expensive scandinavian counterparts.

If you can, go to the store because it is quite amazing how much stuff they have for so little (remember...you have to do all the work though) but if you need to, you can definately shop online or by phone (and I think they will send you a catolog if you dont want to use the online one). From the main IKEA page, underneatht he select a store...choose the first option "IKEA Direct Online Shopping" and you can buy away.

You can order some IKEA stuff online, but a lot of it you must pick up in store. Also, their shipping is pretty expensive, so it almost doesn't make it worth buying cheap IKEA stuff if you have to pay the difference in shipping.

If money is a factor?

Use the same stuff you use in your bedroom right now.

Getting brand new blankets = waste of money.

Paying that tuition is important.

What type of furniture should one buy if their room is already furnished?

It depends how furnished. You will probobly want extra seating (or a good office chair since you will spend a lot of time computing) but those kinds of things should be talked about once you are assigned a roommate.

Depending on the desk situation, you might want a small drawer/filing unit and a selection of small desk storage bins for supplies like pens.

You really cant decide until you know what will be in the room.

Garage sales, gigantic yard sales, and Good will....do not knock good will for funiture....nothing beats a $15 couch and $5 coffee table.....

China town is good for decoration if that's your style....should be cheap if you look around long enough.

Screw BB&B if your on a budget. My dorm looks classy as hell(probaly one of the best looking on campus, however my school is small) and it's all used stuff or bought from little unknown stores. I actually have a dorm with a motif I'm proud to say and it costs around $100+ to do the whole room if you know where to look...

A great dorm room has all the walls covered with posters, flags, pictures, tapestries, anything you like. And get some folding camp chairs from someplace like Pier One. Everything depends on the size of your room, however.

^

Indeed, and check allposters.com for their $1.99 postsers as a few are good...not to mention the cash back awards thingy they have can easily reinburse your money...I made $20 off a $6.95 order once

Super WAL-MART!! Meijers, maybe? Ikea if you want some nice decorations. My school usually has pretty good poster sales. I used stuff from home. Random trinkets from vacation. And some shot glasses and beer bottles to round it off.

Container Store has a college night in early Aug. everything 20% off
