i haven't been to the dentist in 2 years, and i'm avoiding the eye doctor. i only have medical insurance, which doesn't even make me all that comfortable in going regularly. i kind of need dental and eye care insurance... any suggestions? i'll also take suggestions if you know something that will cover all three at student rates. i'm just thinking costco.

Your college might have some type of plan available for students. If you have a job (and that's how you got your medical insurance), then tell them you want dental and eye care insurance added.

I have no idea. I only have medical insurance (through my school, and it's total sh-t) I only have it because it was required to have domestic insurance as well as international for my study abroad program. I doubt I will renew my insurance in the fall because what's through my school is so damned expensive (be easier to just pay the occasional $110 at the doctor's than to pay $650 for a semester where I only go to the doctor once). I had to get new glasses last year, because I lost my old pair, plus my prescription had changed anyway, and my mom is still paying it off, along with the dentist bill from 2 years ago when I got my wisdom teeth out. Fortunately, she takes care of those bills for me.

yeah, school insurance sucks. but my work place don't provide benefits since i'm only part time. i get my own discounted insurance, but it only covers medical. i'm thinking it might be better to just get no insurance and go in whenever i need, which is rarely anyway. unless i accidentally near kill myself or something.

My mom also found that it was cheaper to pay for the dentist/eye doctor visits with no insurance.

If you are really worrried about the cost of those visits, you could try visiting a dental school. They are a lot cheaper than a normal one. They are supervised by a real dentist, so it's not as scary. The only problem is that you may have 5 people looking in your mouth at a time. Eye doctors might have something similar to that. There are also some places that offer discounts to uninsured patients.
