Thanks margaritasalt17!

I'm going to New/North definitely. Most social dorms on campus

I give my highest recommendation to New/North because I am currently living there, and it is the best atmosphere all around, each hall has its own personality (depending on the people in it) but there is still the ability to study in your room, varying on how you deal with some noise and how your roommate is...but otherwise the library is close and it is the place that you can meet the most people and the same place that people in other dorms envy because they come to visit and hang out more often than they stay in their own dorms

Is a dorm without AC too uncomfortable?

My S lives in Pardee, on the 7th floor & has never complained about it being too hot. We purchased him a small desk fan, but I'm not sure he needs it as he wasn't using it when we moved him into his dorm in August. Some of the rooms in the Honors Dorms (Trojan & Marks Halls) are pretty warm/hot without fans (no A/C), so I think it varies.

Which doubles would be better suited for me if I am a comp. sci./ bus. admin. major and am pretty social, but also like having a good studying environment between Parkside International Residential College and Fluor Tower? Also, is there a difference between cardinal and gold meal plans (can you eat at the same places?)?

anyone have any advice?

i'd say it's a toss up. fluor is more social, but parkside is in a much better location in my opinion. if you live in fluor, you'll be going cross campus for almost all of your classes, which will get very old.

I love how people on this board talk about how annoying it is to go across campus, which takes about 15 minutes walking. At my brother's state school, it takes him 20 minutes to get from the frat house, which is at the edge of campus, to his closest class, which no where near the center of campus. For him to cross the campus while walking, it would take him at least 45 minutes.

haha i know we are so spoiled! i just have a habit of forgetting stuff and i don't want a 15 minute walk to turn into a 45 minute walk.

i was filling out the online housing app and decided to change one of the places i put for where i wanted to live, and it wont let me change it. Does anyone know how or if it can be changed?

what is better new or north? are the rooms with sinks better than those without?

Email them. I remember that's what bluebeard did to change his choices.

Yeah, that's what I did as well and they replied back within 48 hours =]

Marks Hall FTW. Sent in housing and all that stuff. I really didn't have a choice. RHP has a choice between Trojan Hall and Marks Hall.. and Marks Hall seemed like the better choice.

I've been accepted to the arch program. Do the arch students stay in the same dorm near the arch buildings or do they live throughout campus? Any imputs/ suggestions would be helpful.

All students who want housing on campus have to fill out the Housing Application form & submit their housing deposit. You list 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choices & they do try to give you one of them. There are pros & cons to choosing housing near where your school is. My S is a freshman in engineering & chose Pardee Tower as his 1st choice & is glad he did. He is around students with many different majors, which he likes instead of only engineering students (who tend to be more "intense"). More of the engineering students tend to live nearer the school at Parkside.

No, it doesn't matter what major you are; everybody's scattered around campus.

HImom, small correction: as of this year, you have to list 5 choices on your housing app & then rate 1-4 your preference for dorms, suites, apartments, or off-campus housing if your 1st 5 choices aren't available

hmm.. this may be a dumb question, but in order to participate in a special interest community, do you have to live in the dorm that has it? i want to participate in WISE, but am leaning more towards birnkrant than new...
