Hi, I am new here. I am going to apply for 2014 academic university, but still don't know which colleges will be best for me. I am applying from Bangladesh. My academic results are very good. But my SAT score is only 1710. I am going to seat for SAT 2 in Dec 7.Can you please suggest me some colleges where I will have a great chance of acceptance with financial aid ? please help me ..

What do you want to study? How much can your parents afford?

Unfortunately, your scores won’t be too competitive for the kinds of schools that offer generous need-based aid to international students. Many public (state-run) colleges don’t offer need-based aid at all to internationals. For private schools that do offer large grants, in many cases you’d need scores above about 1300 (M+CR) to be competitive.

Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana) is one state university that does offer aid to internationals. The average aid to internationals who received it for 2011-12 was about $9200 (but the total cost is over $40K for students who are not Indiana residents). Your scores would be about average for enrolled freshmen at Indiana.

Other schools you might consider include Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut), Skidmore College, Dickinson College, or Union College. These are small private liberal arts colleges with relatively good aid for international students. Your scores would be low for these schools, but they might be interested in an applicant from Bangladesh.

Pay attention to application deadlines.

South Dakota State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, University of Minnesota - Morris, and Truman State are relatively low cost at list price, and are not that difficult to get admitted to. However, you need to check whether they offer the academic majors you are interested in.
