Where to apply?

Currently a junior. Last year was very bad. I had major anxiety issues to where I couldn’t go to my classes. I went to school and sat in a special ed teachers room for 75% of the year and did whatever work teachers would send over to me. Ended up with only two required classes and taught myself calc bc. This year was quite a bit better but not near perfect.

How will having that happen and only 2 classes last year affect chances? Where in California should I even try to apply?

Only good thing I have is sat

3.4 unweighted
2300 sat
4 ap +3 next year

UC/CSU GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Intended major? Public and/or Private? Large/Small? In-state resident?

Do you have enough credits to graduate HS next year? Will you fulfill the CSU/UC a-g course requirements?

3.3.

cs, philosophy, or pure math

Public, maybe private. Don’t really care about size. Yes, in state.

Credits are not an issue and I will meet all a-g req’s

You can go to college without having graduated from high school if you lack credits. In some states your high school diploma will be conferred after you complete a full year of college assuming you pass your classes.

I have plenty of credits. I will have 15 or 20 extra somehow after next year. That’s not an issue.

I also talked to my counselor a while back and I will be taking one or two math classes at local cc. Dunno whether that affects much

Your GPA is probably going to keep you out of most of the UCs - though with your test scores, a compelling essay might get you into a couple of the,. I"d apply for the ones that interest you, just know it’s a reach. You’ll be a very strong candidate for all the CSUs except CP SLO, again, GPA is the reason. Your test scores and a compelling story will probably make you a strong candidate for LMU, USD and perhaps Santa Clara.

Apply broadly and see what happens.

Good luck.

That 3.3 UC GPA I posted is wrong. I did it right and it’s 3.63. I put the wrong grades and didn’t put in number of ap/honors

Knock at the prerequisites at CC and make sure you are doing well and at that point look to transfer for the shook that fits your major.

It would take me 10x as long to do that. Chances are I would only even be able to get into 2 classes/semester there.

If your second gpa (the 3.63) is the correct one, than with your SAT score, your AP’s and your story you might have a chance at UCSC, SB, Merced and Riverside. I would make sure to really elaborate on your circumstances in your essays though, and if you had any EC’s make sure to highlight them as well. Good luck!
