Where to go for Chemical Engineering?

Im currently a high school junior, looking at places to go to school for chemical engineering.

I currently have on my list: U of Iowa, Iowa State, Univ. of Colorado-Boulder

Im from Iowa, so U of I and Iowa state would be much cheaper without any scholarships and i know they have decent chemical engineering programs.

But I really want to go to Colorado, I have family that went there and i've been there a few times, it's my dream school and i would much rather go there than be stuck in Iowa.

I have a few concerns though, one is that i can't find many reviews on their chemical engineering program.
Is it a pretty good school for chemical engineering or would I be better off staying in Iowa?
Another concern I had is that I keep hearing that it is a pretty big party school, and gets a bad rep for lots of drugs. If I went there would it affect me getting a good job at all? Like getting labeled as a "pothead", or should I not have to worry about that?

What do you guys think would be the best way to go for me?

UW-Madison. One of the best programs in the entire world.

Just go to Univ. Colorado. You will be happier there and it is a great school, particularly for engineering. Just go there, work hard and enjoy yourself and you will turn out totally fine.

Iowa State - It was my D’s #2 choice, and she liked it a lot on a summer visit. She also had a teammmate get a ChemE degree there - and they wound up working for the same large company. They have a good co-op program, so if you want to get the heck out of Iowa - and who doesn’t - you can do it that way.

So, it will be less expensive to go there, and you can make money and be far away for summers and the semesters you co-op. Win- win for you.

Go Cyclones!

Added in Edit - U of Minn has a top-rated ChemE program - Look into them for a back up. Dress warm…

Based on your three options, go with Univ. of Colorado-Boulder. It has a pretty good chemical engineering program. Last I’ve checked the program was ranked #20 in the nation.

My friend from high school is majoring in ChemE at CU. I think he likes it pretty well there.
There’s A LOT of weed smoking in CO. I think there was a survey done in my high school that 50% of the students there said they have tried out pot at least once in their life.

That would never affect getting a job, unless you go to an interview smelling like weed.

Look at RPI, Wisconsin-Madison, Georgia Tech, and UIUC. All top notch chemical engineering schools

Since ur from Iowa, U of Minnesota might be a good choice. I’ve also heard its ranked #4 in the States. I’m planning to transfer there myself for Fall 2013.
