I just started my AP World Class and bombed the first quiz w/ a 60%. That book is the most boring dry-natured thing I have ever seen in my life. I can tell this class is going to be a real fight, but I need your help on how to handle this class. My goal is to come out with an A for both semesters and get a 5 on the AP exam. I may have had a rough start, but I'm ready to work for that A and 5 AP score. What are your tips on which prep book to buy to help me throughout the year and also how do you recommend I handle this class to get an A? Thank you so much in advance everybody!

[Barron’s AP World History](http://www.amazon.com/Barrons-World-History-6th-Edition/dp/1438002726/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1409166909&sr=8-3&keywords=barron’s+ap+us+history) should do the job for you as a prep book. If you want an A, read, read and read, like a lot. If you read and don’t remember anything from your readings, [purchase the flashcards](http://www.amazon.com/Barrons-World-History-Flash-Cards/dp/0764162632/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409167009&sr=8-1&keywords=barron’s+ap+world+history+flashcards) as well.

If I was in your shoes, I’d try to analyze what went wrong with the first quiz. Was it the quiz itself or the textbook? Does the textbook reflect the quiz and vice versa? Is there any information you didn’t know or that was left out? Ask yourself these kinds of questions so you can prepare and improve better in the future.

I’m also wondering about a prep book for ap world. my friend said that the barron’s book can sometimes be a bit overwhelming (it sometimes does not emphasize the right part of the curriculum)…

My teacher refuses to use Barrons because like, 5 editions ago, she found a couple of factual errors. She told me that students like 5 Steps to a 5, because it gives you different ways to study, and Princeton Review is good too.

I got a 5 on the exam, and PR was probably the only reason I did. It goes into details, but also emphasizes themes, which are extremely important for the AP exam (something that I thought Barron’s lacked). Good luck!

The Princeton Review is amazing. Using 5STA5 as a last second resource is helpful too.
