Which classes do you plan to take this fall?

Most science majors just take Chem6A, Math (10/20)A, their college writing course and an elective (usually GE). So it’s not difficult. It’s not any more difficult than taking science and math back in HS (along with your presumably 5 other classes, president of 3 clubs and captain of the football team duties :)) Maybe just a little more.

Chem6A actually counts toward your science major. Chem11 is a course for non-science majors, like a lit major who needs to take a science for GEs.

As for dance, simply email the instructor and give a brief overview of why you should get in. (Dear Professor so-and-so, I would like to take your course on X, because I have danced in that style for y years and would really benefit from taking X instead of the beginning course. Sincerely, Z). He or she will decide from there.

can someone tell me if the academic adviser/counselor is supposed to be able to access placement test scores? because my recommended schedule states that I should take the MPE, when I already have…

also - if I am undeclared and have not taken AP Chemistry… should I start with 4A or 6A ?..

basically I am in trouble as far as my schedule goes :(

thanks for any responses !

and… um… e-advising is closed!?! what…

sorry for posting again, I am just a bit lost here

your page probably hasn’t been updated yet. it’s not instantaneous.

chem 6a = those with a chemistry background, are ok at math
chem 4 = no chemistry background (even basic high school chemistry), weaker math skills.

only you can determine what’s right for you. although you can take that chemistry placement exam online and see what level is ok withh you

Guys,
I am considering the dance minor…
and since minor can’t be taken on a pass/no pass basis, i am wondering how tough these courses are.
Besides, I am not exactly into Ballet (and i can avoid those courses in my minor), but am more into hip-hop, break and free-style. So would this be an appropriate minor to do?

input?
thanks. :D

do we have to take the chem placement test?
the lady at academic advising kept on telling me that it’s HIGHLY recommended but i can “probably” sign up for chem6a because I already took chem ap in high school.

Yea, just take the chem placement. I have literally no background in chemistry in high school and I got recommended into Chem 6A. First 10 questions are all like basic math and lots of it is basic chemistry.

thanks a lot for your response i_lose.

yeah I will just do the chem placement and get it over with… thank you.

I was just wondering why the VAC states that e-advising is closed already, though…

I took the Chemistry test a while back ago and I think I got recommended for chem 6a but I’m not sure…

Do you know where I can look back so I can see?

Also, I wasn’t recommended to take it (I’m an undeclared major) so I wasn’t able to see on my course recommendations either.

hm, you’re in a similar situation to me then, as I’m undeclared as well.

well for me with the math placement, I went back to the MPE site and was able to see my results. have you checked the chem placement site?

https://chem-web.ucsd.edu/academic/placement/

good luck :)

If I was to petition for a class, when should I do that?

i kinda just used the e-advising to petition…

Hey I saw that psychology 1 is now on around 15 on the waitlist so I’m getting scared, but I am also thinking about taking psychology 3. Is it possible I could take the full psych 1,2,3 in a year by doing them out of order.

To rephrase does anyone know if they have psych 1 and 2 in both the last two quarters?

howardho, you could always check last year’s fall/winter/spring schedule to see if the courses were offered.

Actually, Spring 2009 is available on the schedule page. Only PSYCH 1 appears to be offered.

yeah I have checked and it’s definitely possible with last years schedule, but there are chances that it won’t be the same right? due to budget cuts and what not

Anyone not taking the Math 10 or 20 series since they are a non-sci major. I’m definitely considering it since Phil10 can go toward my math ge requirement and my phil major req. [well, double major] and i could still take poli 12. it’s like killing two birds with one stone.
but at the same time eeeveryone is taking math 10/20 and out comes the teenager within me who just wants to be able to say that lol
i qualify for 10 b and above. and i would take 10b since math and i have a love/hate relationship. lol

I know EXACTLY what you mean, OLIamaRama. XD I’m in much the same boat. I may take the 10/20 series if I have the time/credits left, because wow, it’d be sad to be done with math by high school. Even if it was calc, I’d make me feel lame. But at the same time, given my future plans, other than the joy of learning (which is hit-or-miss, given my relationship with mathematics), I’m not sure there’s a point, exactly?

I have a question about enrollment - sorry didn’t know what thread to post this in - do we need our PAC to begin the enrollment process?? it says so on the WebReg tutorial; however, that seems to be using an older version of the site, so I was wondering…

I don’t even remember getting my PAC… just the PID :
