I live in georgia and go to emory and i can say that it is not uncommon or unreasonable to not know about furman esp for people not from the south east. what is furman a rival with emory in? sports? that’s the only thing i could think of but furman is not in the UAA and emory is not sports centered so i don’t think most people would view furman as a rival. just my opinion

My mom went to Fordham instead of NYU (and Vassar) because it offered her a scholarship.

Anyways, they’re very different. Fordham has more of a traditional campus feel. NYU’s student body is more diverse. Fordham has a great business program for ug and a great law school for grads. NYU is awesome at the arts for ug and has a really good dental school. They’re different.

It’s a rival for students. Probably somebody applying to Emory would consider other schools such as Vanderbilt, Duke, Furman, Wofford, Wake, Davidson, etc. All privates in the same geographic area and all very good schools. I’m not saying they’re in the same category just that they would likely at least consider them

It’s also known as Brooklyn Polytech. Brooklyn Tech is a high school in the area.
