Some colleges say that an AP course amounts to a 3.5 if you get a B.
Are there any schools that specifically explain how they weight the GPA.
I am looking at engineering colleges anywhere..
Thanks

That’s how Georgia Tech calculates a weighted GPA.

A+ / A / A- / >90 = 4.0,
B+ / B / B- / 80-90 = 3.0,
C+ / C / C- / 70-80 = 2.0,
D+ / D / D- / 60-70 = 1.0,
F / <60 = 0.0
Add +0.5 for any class that is AP, IB, or taken at a college. They mostly use that to compare in-state students.

Does GT disregard the high school’s grading scale when they recalculate the GPA?

I’m pretty sure UC’s calculate their own GPA as well.

They consider the unweighted GPA and the GT GPA (mostly for in-state students to track performance by school). The school’s weighting does not matter.
