Which colleges do NOT consider freshman grades when recalculating gpa?

its in the title haha.

All 10 University of California campuses and Stanford University if I remember correctly.

California State Universities also.

Universities of California recalculate GPA without 9th grade course grades, but admissions readers will see them when reviewing applications. California State Universities just plug the GPA into a formula with test scores.

Note that, for both systems, a D or F in 9th grade will disqualify the course from counting toward subject requirements (e.g. 4 years of English, etc.).

Carnegie Mellon, Emory and McGill also don’t use 9th grade.

All 9 of the California UC campuses and 22 of the 23 Cal States (Cal Poly SLO is the exception) do not use 9th grades in their GPA calculation, but they still require 9th grades to be reported to make sure applicants meet the a-g course requirements.

Sorry for duplicating several posts but post #1 stated 10 UC’s.

Thanks for all the responses. What about Princeton? I’ve heard that they do no count freshman year

I believe that many selective universities don’t even calculate a GPA…they look at your transcript and see the rigor and grades. GPA is a meaningless number in most cases.
