I'm switching over to a BioChem major as a sophomore for pre med but my counselor didn't change it in the transcript. So far I'm involved in health sciences. Do I need a high enough GPA to declare it? Also which Decs do I need? Thanks

Your counselor/advisor can’t make the major switch for you, you have to follow the procedure of filling out the Major/Minor Declaration form ->
http://www.stonybrook.edu/registrar/forms/Major-Minor%20Declaration%20SEPT%202008.pdf
Then take it to the Biochemistry department for them to sign off on it, after that you take the form to the Registrar’s office for it to be officially changed. Unfortunately the biochem department’s website doesn’t have too much info on this, [Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology/url, so just go to them.

The DECs you want to follow are here -> [url=http://sb.cc.stonybrook.edu/bulletin/current/policiesandregulations/degree_requirements/majors_cas.php]Stony Brook Undergraduate Bulletin - Spring 2010 - Requirements for Majors in CAS, CoB, SoMAS, and School of Journalism](http://www.stonybrook.edu/biochem/undergraduate/index.html)

It’s easier to see what DECs you still need once your major is officially changed, you can print out a updated degree progress report then that will show what you have done and need for the major.
