Hi guys, I'll be going to the U this fall. I'm looking for a dorm that/where:

-You don't have to share a bathroom with 10-15 other people (4 would be good)
-Close to Computer Science Classes/CSE/CLA
-Isn't a super hardcore party 24/7 place (I'd like it to be somewhat lively, but not outrageous)
-Has heat when it gets chilly
-Has enough space to house a desktop computer with a monitor

I'm aware all the dorms have cable TV and internet.

If you guys could recommend a dorm for me, that would be great!

Thanks.

LOL. All of the dorms have heat dude. Some lack AC.

Based on your preferences: avoid Territorial and Bailey. Sharing the bathroom isn’t a big deal at all, but if you really care maybe check out the suite-style rooms in Frontier.

I’m sure they all have heat and the desks are probably the same or close to the same size in all the dorms.

As far as the bathroom, you could check out the on-campus apartments. I think students in the apartments only have to share a bathroom with 1-3 other people. It might also be a little less into the party scene, or at least you’d have more space to get away from it. My sister lived in the apartments on the Duluth campus, and they were a pretty nice deal. The ones at the Twin Cities are probably even better.

Also, if you check out the housing section of the website, I believe they have plenty of info, photos, and video tours of the various residence halls and apartments. That should be able to answer most of your questions.

So, I am in CLA computer science first year, and plan to transfer into CSE after freshman year. Can I still live in Frontier Hall (Science and Engineering House), while doing computer science in CLA?

If you’re turning in your housing app now I’d say good luck with whatever you get because the Superblock fills the fastest, but I wouldn’t know about most of the LLC’s, maybe they still have spots open. The Science and Engineering House may be only available to CSE but I’d call to make sure.
