Which dorm should I live in?

I'm completely stuck between living in East or Pollock Halls.
East would be cool because it's all freshmen--a good way to meet people!--but Pollock has bigger rooms, better food, and is in a better location. East is farther away from everything...but I kind of like how it's secluded, and less intimidating without all the upperclassmen.
Ah, as you can see, I'm torn.
I'm doing the summer session, and all students (freshmen!) live in Pollock Halls for that period of time. Maybe I'll get my "freshman experience" (the one I could potentially acquire by living in East) then, and should just stay in Pollock for the fall?
Any advice?

If you haven’t requested already, its probably too late, and you will no doubt get East anyway

actually, not all freshmen summer students are in pollock. A lot of them are in south.

But it’s probably true that if you haven’t already selected another choice by now, you’ll most likely end up in east for fall.

preoc - don’t overanalyze. You’ll enjoy wherever you are. You’re going to PSU so you’re in a great church, so to speak, so don;t worry about the pew you occupy for frosh year. The real experience will be with the people around you, and that’s luck of the draw anyway, and has nothing to do with room size or food quality.

Strop worrying and enjoy.

Yeah it really doesn’t matter whether you’re in East or Pollock in the fall because you’re going to meet so many people and have so much fun during summer session. If you make a few good friends during summer session you’ll probably be able to doctor your housing somehow so that you can live with one of them.

Just letting you know, the rooms in East are much nicer than the rooms in Pollock. Pollock rooms’ setups are AWFUL. They make everything look ugly and smaller. Try to get in McElwain or Simmons because they’re like the same area as Pollock but the rooms are huge.

Summer session kids have until July 10 to make a fall roommate request.

Just accepted my offerr :D

SO i am thinking of putting East Halls as my 2nd Preference.
But for 1st pref ; I am stuck between South and Pollock Halls!
Which one is better? And why
My major is engineering :D

So, just to clear something up…

South and Pollock are in the same geographic area, so what you can say about one, you can say about the other in terms of location.

Otherwise, I agree with barnacle…you will enjoy it regardless. But START YOUR HOUSING SEARCH FOR NEXT YEAR…EARLY. Especially if you are planning on moving off campus. I lived in the dorms as a sophomore. Not saying that I specifically regret that (because I was living in West) I definitely remember reaching a point freshman year where I realized it was my only option…plan ahead!

warrior-when you say early, about how early do you suggest? just don’t want to miss the boat on these kinds of things

^^^
kprims - my son is a freshman. He will be in the dorms next year (single room, where he wants to be), but he and some friends are already looking for an apartment for their JUNIOR year. Evidently there are some places that allow you to “book” your place a year in advance.

kprims…

By early, I mean like by the end of October. I know it sounds ridiculous, but things fill up pretty fast. Especially if you want to live close to campus. The stuff that is a bit further away(by Walmart, etc.), you might have until January or something like that.
