Which ECs should I put on my app? They're all so unorthodox. :(

And how should I rank them?
I'm applying for a prospective econ/finance major applying ED NYU Stern, if that helps you decide.

**Helping Is Easy Inc. Community Service Coordinator and Volunteer Graphic Designer /b
Grade 10-now, Summer and School Year, 7 hours a week during all 52 weeks
HiE is a nonprofit organization based on making it easier for others to do community service.
I did a lot of designing and design critique for its website.
Additionally, I referred my school's Key Club to it, and that started a successful community service project.

**One Step Ahead Learning Center Volunteer Intern /b
Grade 9-11, Summer, 12 hours a week during 7 weeks
I tutored students and managed classes of kids grade 2-8.

GrayMatter Foundation Assistant Editor-in-Chief of Publications
Grade 12-now, School Year, 1 hour a week during all 52 weeks
The thing is that this organization had been made very recently, and I applied and got in just as recently. We're still doing a lot of preparations, but it's focused on funding underfunded schools in the city. Should I just put this activity last?

**Graphic Animator on Youtube/b
Grade 9-now, School Year and Summer, 3 hours a week during 26 weeks
I make videos using graphics and animated sprites.

New York Chinese School
Grade 9-10, School Year, 2 hours a week during 36 weeks (every weekend)
I've been studying Cantonese Chinese, my native language, at NYCS since 1st grade. I only stopped because I graduated.

Writer of opinions section on Stuyvesant Standard, official school newspaper
Grade 11-12, School Year, 2 hours a week during 18 weeks (an article out every two months)
self explanatory

**Administrator of Mapleology, an online forum for animators, graphic artists, and writers/b
Grade 9-12, School Year and Summer, 3 hours a week during all 52 weeks
This ties in to my Youtube EC. I manage a forum of about 500 people.

**Family Responsibilties/b
(potential 150 word explanation)
Grade 9-12, School Year and Summer, 10 hours a week during all 52 weeks
I'm the only one who knows English in my family, so I do all the paperwork. My immigrant family members are coming over very soon, and I need to do a lot of paperwork for them too. My dad's elderly and mom works 11 hours a day. Because of the two hour commute, I do the cooking. All of my other ECs are weekend/online based because of this.
Does this EC make me sound pretentious? ;_;

Is anyone offended by the last EC, btw? I know we all have family responsibilities, but would mine be time consuming enough to mention?

Anyone? :frowning: I don’t want to send my ED app too late.

Rank them in their importance to you and keep in mind that there is very little space to describe them. The last EC is fine (I don’t get the offensive part at all), but just keep in the part about being the family translator. The rest is hard work, put other kids have it just as hard. Good luck!

Thank you!

Very Nice EC’s! :)

In your specific case, I think you should take advantage of the option to include a resume. The character limit on the main app is extremely short, and your activities are very specific and would be a big bump up to admissions.

I am going through this process with my oldest, and am just a mom, but I have seen senior posters say that admission officers hate resumes…unless there is new information, which in your case there is.
