I'm in 3A/L right now with Pederson and I like him as a professor and would like to take him for 3B/L next semester. However, I'm also intended Public Health, which means I need BIO 1A/L to declare by next year. Which do you think I should do in spring and which in summer? Oh, and why-in terms of worksload for a class for a given semester, better professors teaching etc....

If you wanna protect your sanity do not take Bio 1A/L over the summer. I’m already going crazy having lab once a week, having it twice a week over the summer is suicide. There is just waaaay to much information to cram into 8 weeks. Like meighan said, “this summer we had the lowest averages, beating all other years.”

ok calbear. that was the general consensus I have gotten from most people regarding bio 1a but then do you know if pederson teaches 3b/l in the summer? i just got used to his style of teaching and I am afraid I wouldnt do as well in frechet or vollhardt (do either of these 2 teach in summer?)

FYI my friend who took Viernes said that his teaching style is sort of similar to that of Pederson. Not sure what she meant, but I guess both have this note taking system where they have blanks, with the information, that you fill out so you aren’t rushed for taking notes.

Better than Pederson and worse than Vollhardt in terms of some form of A, but all 3 give out around 22-24% As. Oh and if you are really bad at Chem, I encourage Viernes as he barely fails/Ds any students, only around 3-5%.

wait…vollhardt gives more As than pederson-man now i wish id taken 3a with him instead??? but i guess more A’s than pederson for summer is still good

i dont think im that horrible at chem that i would get a D or F, but i guess it cant hurt to be safe lol

My grade break down is for 3B, NOT 3A. But don’t take one prof over the other depending on the amount of As given out since it varies only SLIGHTLY.

i wished i had known that vollhardt has a huge curve on his tests, i definitely woulda chosen him over pedersen, even though everyone says pedersen is really awesome

i imagine it’s a lot tougher if tests are easy and avg is high =/

Do people ever read? I meant the amount of As the Chem 3B profs give out vary slightly. (Pederson ~22%, Viernes ~24% and Vollhardt ~26%) Vollhardt, however fails a lot more students (~15%)

keep in mind Rine teaches part of 1A in the fall and everyone hates him.

Also, if I recall correctly the bioinformatics lab for Bio 1AL in the summer is covered on the midterm (as opposed to the final). Bioinformatics on the Bio 1AL practical exam sucks as they are the hardest questions… I remember my last five stations were the bioinformatics ones and they sucked…
