Biochemistry or computer engineering. I know both are competitive, but I'm not sure HOW competitive lol. Just looking at my options

Thanks!

I’m assuming computer engineering

I’m pretty sure it’s Computer Engineering.

Both are very competitive. I’ll go with computer engineering in this case, but not by a wide margin. The computer engineering admission statistics are online. After that, Computer Science> Computer Engineering.

hi guys, I’m guessing most of people in this forum are not current UW students, or they are not in one specific program yet, but do you know anybody who made it to the Computer Engineering program as a transfer? did you know the gpa of that person or how brilliant he/she was?

I’m a current student, and I know students that are already majoring in both fields (more CS). Note that the admission statistics are MUCH lower than what many of you think. There are two people that apply to the majors: students who have near-perfect grades and talent in the field, and people who have been rejected before, but don’t give up. And yet, the average gpa for admission still sticks around 3.5, while the average offer gpa is around a high-3.7 to low 3.8, which tells you that it’s far more competitive than people think. It’s a small department that works very well with the students who are admitted. Other than that, if you don’t get direct-admit to Computer Science or Engineering, then I don’t recommend attending this university for those two studies, unless you are absolutely sure you will do well in the prerequisite courses. Most of the students I know in both fields are very academically talented, and also “special” in the sense that they go above and beyond what is necessary for admissions. Most build their own applications and what not to provide proof of their skill with programming. Here’s a link to admissions statistics for CS and CE: http://data.engr.washington.edu/pls/portal30/STUDENT_APPL.RPT_APPLICANT_STATISTICS_YEAR.SHOW_PARMS

Thank you very much, VERY helpful
