Which major should I choose ?( International student) HELP HELP

Looooong read ahead–

hey guys, I’m an international student(from India) at UNLV and I start this fall. I’ll be having my advising in a couple days and wanted to know which major should I choose ?

I’ve read all around that I wont be able to land a job as a undergraduate, so I’m really worried about that, even my hair has started falling, I would like to get sufficient knowledge on the future prospects offered by all the majors.

I’ve read that accounting is a great option but if I don’t get a job here, it’ll be a waste for me if I return back to India with a degree in accounting.I really need to make a good choice so I don’t mess up my future.

I heard from other people who attended unlv that Economics is also good and I could finish is early. What about all the other options like biz mgt. or any other available majors and minors.

I am ready to work hard but don’t want to be a complete shut in as I want to get out of my comfort zone this year and become a more confident person(since I’m shy and underconfident).

I keep on thinking that a job as a manager would not be good for me since I have low self-esteem or I don’t see myself as leading people but I don’t really know.

if you guys need to know my scores, here they are -

SAT- 1660( 550,610,490) I don’t really wanna make excuses but 12th grade in India is a tough time(With tuitions and all) and I only gave the SAT once.
TOEFL- 110/120(28,27,26,29)
9th/10th grade - 8.2 cgpa
12th grade- 91% in Commerce stream

lets not talk about 11th grade, I don’t really know what I like but is there anyway I can get to know what I like ? I may sound dumb and confused but hey which 18th year old isn’t. One more thing, there is nothing more I love than selling things and making a someone buy something from me by giving them a good deal and fishing them in with facts. It may sound like I’ll be well suited for a sales rep but don’t think I can take the constant rejection for too long.

Thanks for reading if you got this far.

Relax. You don’t need to pick a major until the end of your second year of college. If you are in the business school you will take core classes such as intro. to accounting, intro. to finance, IT, management etc. so you will have an opportunity to see where your interests and aptitudes lie. You might also grow into a more confident person after two years of college abroad. And before you choose a major you will have opportunities to speak with and get guidance from people who will actually know you such as professors, career placement staff etc. at your college.

As an aside, you should be aware that to become a CPA in the US you now need 150 credits which generally translates into an extra year of education. Many people do one year MS in Accounting programs to fulfill this requirement.
