Thanks for the article! It was really helpful! Also I guess I’m most likely am going to join either Hagget, McMahon, or McCarty. McCarty is most likely at the top of my list because it has the engineering community and an Internet Cafe :]!

Although my intended major is pre-science (biology), McCarty is most appealing. Then, Hagget. Then Stevens Court. But, Stevens Court doesn’t seem to be that popular or known… Can anyone speak of their experience at Stevens Court? Thanks a lot!

When I took a tour (from my cousin who graduated from UW), she said that either McCarty was a good dorm. I’m thinking about joining that dorm also!! Or McMahon.

I really want to take the “specifically for seniors” tour at UW but they don’t have it the day I am there!!! I already took the campus tour last summer and they didn’t show any dorms or anything. What should I do?? Take the campus tour again?

I don’t like McMahon’s cluster system. I think it prevents making bonds outside one’s cluster… IF there is a campus tour available, can someone please tell me??

Haha, same goes for me! I think it would be nice if there was a tour like that.

not sure if you guys have seen this thread since it’s from last year… but I found it super helpful…

This (from 2004… so a few years back) was also super helpful

although it leaves out McCarty

I’m set on requesting McCarty/Hagget/Lander(or Terry). I just need to figure out the order now

When do we start applying for dorms?

Pretty sure we begin applying in the summer on the website.

April 6 at 4pm actually.

I got an email from housing about that a few weeks ago. :D

It’s May. Start checking the website in early May.

I must be wrong… Ignore this.

WOO excited.

On the site https://uwashington.edu.185r.net/Event/page2.php?y=2010&m=4&d=1&s=5&e=14&fromcal=1&& , it shows a date and where the tour is at. For example, one of them says Hagget hall. Does that mean the tour only goes for Hagget hall? And not the rest of the dorms?

yeah pretty sure that means only Haggett… it’s too bad that most of these tours are after April 6th because I plan on applying to housing asap.

arggg you guys I’m having such a hard time deciding on my top 3…

Just from what I have read from this thread I think I am going to put Haggett, McCarty, Terry on that housing app.
what are the chances that we will get our first or second choice? like those of you who are attending UW did you get assigned to one of your top two?

I’m going with McCarty, Haggett, Lander or Terry.

Why choose Terry over Lander or vice versa?

Whats good about Haggett?? and Lander & Terry are REALLY basically the same thing. I’m more familiar with Terry though because I go there once in awhile for my friend. I don’t know much about Lander ><

I think McMahon is my first choice. It has the arts community, and it’s closer to campus than Terry and Lander. I’m not too worried about becoming a recluse because being a music major, you network with people every day. As for the gaining the freshman 15… not to worried about that either since I like to explore, so I’ll probably be checking everything out around Seattle since there’s so much! Personally, a quiet dorm atmosphere would be ideal for me because I would really only go there to do some homework and sleep. I suppose it just depends on one’s personality, so it’s good people who live there can give us some advice :)

Anyone thinking about NOT living in the dorms? Because I intend on getting an apartment but I don’t want to miss out too much on college life…
