okay so I am going to a community college and might be able to transfer next year (hopefully). I am majoring in psychology and wanted to ask what school do you guys recommend. BTW I am from California. So what colleges (UC and or CSU) offers the best psychology programs in California? I want to be a Counseling Psychologist to be more specific.

UC Berkeley and UCLA appear to be considered as the gold standard. UC Davis, and UC San Diego are also nothing to look down upon. (By the way, I took a GE course with Prof. Paul Salitsky, a psychology professor at UC Davis, and he is excellent.) As far as Cal States go, SDSU, CSULB, and Stanislaus seem to have some pretty respectable programs.

As a side note, it sounds like you might actually have a better chance at getting into the UCs on a TAG, than getting into some of the CSUs I listed, given the crazy college admissions environment as of late.

A UC is almost universally respectable. Cal State’s, not as much.

If you can shoot for a UC, but Santa Barbara has a good program as does Sonoma State. For that major with that kind of popularity most schools will be strong in it.
