Hi everyone:
I would love to get my MBA at Wharton and wondering which of the two following two schools, which I have been admitted to, will give me better chances at getting into Wharton. So, in other words, does the admissions committee look more favorably at one of these schools than other, all other things being equal.
University of Michigan (Ross School of Business)
Georgetown University (McDonough School of Business)
What do you think is the best option considering my goal? Thanks guys!
@streetmate18 I wouldn’t think one gives you a better shot over the other. More important factors for MBA admissions, would be your career path after undergrad and before MBA, GMAT/GRE score (most take GMAT for MBA programs), undergraduate GPA, and which round you apply in. Similar to how Wharton undergrad does ED and RD, MBA program has three separate rounds where chance of acceptance declines each round, so the earlier you apply (you only can apply once per admissions cycle/year), the better your chances.
Honestly, those are both great schools and undergrad doesn’t matter too much. Only around ~30% of MBA students from any given school are from a business UG background. Around 40% are STEM and the rest are liberal arts. I’d say Ross by a slight edge, but it’s up to you. Don’t pick a school just for the Wharton MBA, pick it because you’ll thrive there for 4 years.
Agree with above post. Pick the undergrad experience that fits you. Both schools will give you access to top notch opportunities thru on campus recruiters. Post grad will mean more than any difference between the two schools. Both have good business schools, and both schools have great things. Do you want a big rah rah undergrad opportunity in a college town, or a more intimate experience in a world class city. your call
