Which would you choose? : UC Berkeley(500 Miles),UCLA/UCI(50 Miles), UCR(20 Miles)

Im not really sure which is the best choice. Here are the scenarios:

UC Riverside :
Can live at home with parents

UCLA / UCI :
Only 50 miles from family
Need to dorm or rent an apartment

UC Berkeley:
500 miles away
Very unfamiliar with the bay area
Need to dorm or rent an apartment.

I've visited UCR,UCLA, and UCI and enjoyed all three schools. UC Berkeley,LA, and Irvine are more prestigious but do you think it would be worth the money to attend these Universities instead of UCR in my situation?

My family is no where near any financial problems but only make around $35K total a year and my brother will probably attend the same University as me in two years.

Any suggestions or advice? Thanks

I live 20 minutes from UCLA and was accepted to UCLA in the Fall and UCB in the Spring; both were for economics. I chose UCB because I like the atmosphere (not the weather) more there and I don’t mind being away from home. I wish I had gotten in for Fall, but this will have to do. Good luck with your decision assuming you have to make the choice between the four.

Apply first and see where you get in before you start making decisions about which one you’re going to choose.

UC Riverside would be a last resort for me. I’d much rather spend a few thousands dollars more and live in a livable environment than save money but live in the middle Hick and Meth Land.

really depends on which of those 3 accepts you. if you get accepted into all, then it would be between UCLA and UCB. Why would anyone turn down those 2 schools for UC Rejects?

If you can, apply to all. Then see where you get accepted with sufficient financial aid before you decide.
