heard nothing today, bump

Ahh I’m so glad I found this!! I’ve been checking my email at least every 20 minutes since yesterday because I had no idea there were concrete(ish) dates we’d be notified…I’m only going to be a sophmore next year so I know it’s a long shot, but I’ll still be shaking in my boots until an email comes Friday or Monday… My top 3 were all communications offices, President then Vice President then First Lady.

EDIT: Just went back in the posts and noticed someone asked where people had applied…my bad! :)

kt: so glad another sophomore is here to endure this with me!

Yeah, apparently we hear by Monday. But apparently apple through a phone interview learned that (s)he (side note: whoa, I don’t know ANYones gender o_O) might hear tomorrow as well.

did you get a phone interview or no?

The semi-frustrating thing is that there are so few of us (so far) on CC that I can’t judge whether or not we should expect a accept/not accept based on if we got an interview (i.e. did all offices interview or no). Oh well, only a few more days :)

I would imagine that all departments are doing interviews since Communications is. Looks like it’s a no go for me since I haven’t interviewed :(

Hey hey, at least ya’ll got confirmation emails haha. Yeah, I have pretty much lost any hope, but that gives me another year to get together more experience. By that time I’ll have a lot more under my belt. Good luck to everyone, and if you get it, make the most of it. I’ll get my chance later, and that’s a promise, .

hey braun, how do you know if if the communications department is interviewing? Didn’t apple just say she interviewed with correspondence?

Haha I was wondering the same thing…

Sorry, I meant correspondence.

Doesn’t it make sense that all departments would be interviewing? I guess I never really thought that some would and some would not. What do people think?

I guess I was thinking maybe the Personnel Office screened the applications and then forwarded them to the departments, who each had there own way of picking. Who knows. I haven’t heard anything yet. But correspondence wasn’t one of my choices. I can’t wait to just hear and get this out of the way! So distracting!

I agree with obsessed. someone mentioned earlier on here that they read somewhere all the departments are doing it differently? Besides, I think 3 weeks is a really short amount of time to sort through applications, forward them to another office, sort through them, and also phone call people, and then decide in like…what…4 days (after the call). Some departments may just be accepting people based on applications (I hope?).

Also, I’m glad to see more CC-ers on this thread again! IF you dont mind me asking, what were your top 3 offices and what year are you all?

LOL sorry for the confusion. Not much changes about the application from administration to administration…so I just took the most recent Bush Admin application and worked from it. I think the only thing that literally changed was that they asked for a transcript and the Bush Admin didn’t.

Oh and my top three were Office of White House Council, Office of Cabinet Affairs, and Office of Legislative Affairs. I hope they notify us tomorrow so I don’t have to suffer through this weekend. I have a bottle of Jack on deck either way…either for celebrating…depression…or anticipating LOL!

I am actually a first year law student…lol (I found this thread by searching google)…so my choice was the Counsel’s Office

Haha obsessed that’s exactly how I ended up here too…I’m so glad I stumbled across this!

I applied for all communication offices in my top 3…President, Vice President, and First Lady. Fingers crossed, good luck everybody :)

Well, I am a sophomore from UNC Chapel Hill. Like I said, I have time left to try a few more times, haha.

My top three were Office of the Vice President, Domestic Policy, and Office of the First Lady.

I’m international studies, so I went with what I thought would be most appropriate.

Hi everyone, I applied to the white house as well and I wanted to get a feel for the other type of applicants out there. I am going into a Master’s program this fall for Public Policy for international service and development and I have been accepted into the Master’s International program for the US Peace Corps. My top choices for the white house were office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs, legislative affairs and the first lady. I have previous intern experience on the Hill for a member of the house. I just wanted to know what everyone is bringing to the table! I’ve been obsessing over this whole thing lol and checking my e-mail every five minutes!

Hey Islandfairy

Did you get a phone call to interview?

nope not yet!

Hey Islandfairy–

You have a lot of experience on me! I’m a freshman in college, haven’t done too much. I spent all of this semester doing a service project in my engineering class where we work in teams of four for a real client and basically do the job of an engineer (except for free, har har). Also, (this is mostly applicable to the Office of the First Lady, since it’s a lot of programming stuff) I was a leader in a ~20 person student planning committee that spent all 4 years of HS planning a national conference in DC (I’m from the area) for 350 students of our consortium (NCSSSMST, google if you want to know more). We had pretty hardcore events like a panel on climate change in the capitol building and stuff.

I’m also an advocacy senator for my dorm so I bring up and resolve advocacy issues in my dorm and around campus.

Uh, so it’s pretty vanilla stuff mostly. I also had a job last summer working as an administrative assistant (read: office staff) at a doctors office.

Wow that was a lengthy response. sorry.

I agree with prophet, I just want to hear back tomorrow! Problematic: Finals next week, so the news screws me over either way. I’m really happy & don’t study, or I’m depressd & don’t study

Wow, looks like this thread is getting more popular. Hey everybody!

First, I’m a he! haha

Someone mentioned the different offices all having their own protocol. I’m pretty sure that’s what’s happening. From what I understand (or rather, my guess is), the intern office makes some basic decisions and sends applications to whatever office they feel would be best and then the office decides how to make the decisions from there. Correspondence Office had an interview for me, but I don’t think that necessarily means that not getting an interview = not getting accepted. The questions for me were pretty basic: “What do you hope to gain… why you and not someone else…” that kind of stuff.

But yes. I don’t know if I can wait til Monday to hear back from them. Here’s to tomorrow being the day!
