Hey all. Hope you’re doing well.

Did any of the applicants for past sessions not apply this time around but still receive the message about the Fall deadline extension?

Hey all. Hope you’re doing well.

Did any of the applicants for past sessions not apply this time around but still receive the message about the Fall deadline extension?

DH

darkhorse2010, I received that email as well. Are you reapplying?

I’m not sure, WH. Last time around, neither my recommenders nor I were contacted about my application. I can’t imagine why this time around would be much different.

Personally, I hadn’t given it any thought until I received the email yesterday. [shrug]

How about you?

darkhorse2010, I wanted to apply for the Spring, but I guess applying for the Fall couldn’t hurt.

hi, I applied for the fall program and was wondering if anyone who’s applied in the past (or anyone’s who’s followed this behemoth of a thread) knows if they send you an email before the phone interview (in other words, do they let you know in advance?) The reason I ask is because I am currently abroad and would not want to go through the selection process having missed the call (if I make it that far, that is). thanks!

theautumneffect, it depends. Some applicants got emails saying they were going to be interviewed, while others got surprise phone interviews. It seems like the latter happened far more than the former. I’d let the White House Interns know that you’re abroad and might not be next to your phone the whole time. I’m sure they’ll understand. Well, good luck!

already anxious to hear something … anything … sigh

trp8822, I am too! Is this your first time applying? I don’t think we’ll hear anything until early July. I really hope they don’t extend the decision date again. That’ll kill

WH2010, yes first time, have not had the opportunity/availability until now. I do not think we will hear a peep until July either. I am just hoping to know before August!

The Ivys do well…

Harvard - 12
Columbia University - 8
Penn - 6
Princeton - 4
Yale - 4
Brown - 3
Cornell - 1
Dartmouth - 1

and top universities…

Stanford - 3
Georgetown - 3

but there’s a fair amount of college diversity.

ya I noticed, but I be the Ivys push applying for the Internship more than your typical state school.

I thought there would be closer to 200 interns, I was surprised there was less :/

I think there’s 100 a semester.

Thanks for the advice, WH2010!
According to the website, we’ll hear back on a rolling basis starting from July 19th.
I might be reading into this too much, but would the reason behind them extending the deadline for two weeks mean that there weren’t as many applicants as expected (aka not as much competition)?

theautumneffect, they’ve extended the deadline every semester, so I wouldn’t read too much into. There’s always heavy competition for the White House. We’re in luck because there aren’t as many applicants in the Fall and Spring as there is in the summer, but the quality of applicant is still really high. Last Fall, the majority of CCers that got the White House internship had JDs. But everyone still has a chance! Good luck!

I’m eager to apply for this internship…how likely do you think it is for someone to get this as early as summer after your freshman year?

anyone hear anything yet??? mainly that first e-mail …

Nope. Did you get a vitals email?

Nope, it is a bit early just wondering I guess

Is it possible to apply for a white house internship if you are inernational?

WH2010, I got a vitals email. I don’t know what that was about, they had our personal information already. I heard that some applicants are asked to give phone interviews before the notification date…has anyone heard anything similar?
