White House Internship

Guess this is the week. Anyone get any emails or anything?

nope not at all

Good luck everyone! Let’s keep each other updated!

is it best to do this internship in junior year of college or end of senior year when you dont have to worry about grad school admissions/lsats, gre’s, etc?

does the white house primarily take juniors or do seniors have a shot?

hey everybody, i’ve been following this thread but haven’t written anything yet. this waiting is the worst. best of luck to everybody, i hope we hear back soon!

Any guess as to when decisions will be released?

My best guess from what I have read in past posts is we should start to hear on Wednesday, probably early afternoon.

they said that they would send emails out this week

i got the email asking me for my vitals on June 23 and two weeks ago they called me for a phone interview. can i take this as a good sign? does anyone know of an instance where this happened to someone and they where rejected in the end?

mullend, that has happened several times. A few people have been interviewed for multiple departments for multiple terms and were still rejected. That being said, getting a vitals email and a phone interview is definitely a good thing. If you did well on your interview, then you’re one email away from being a White House intern! Good luck!

anyone hear anything yet?

Nope,

Did anyone’s interviewer tell them a date when they would be getting back to us? They just told me ‘in a few weeks.’

WHorBust my interviewer said last week but i guess he misspoke. Do you, or anyone else, know if they will call the people who wrote my recommendations?

From what I can tell from this forum, is that it really depends on the preference of the office that you interview with. I interviewed with the communications dept, my interview lasted 17 minutes, and none of my recommenders have told me that they were contacted.

Looking back people have reported interviews from 10 minutes to an hour (with people at both ends ultimately being accepted), and some people have had their references checked, while others have not. I don’t think it is an indicator of whether or not you will be chosen though.

This group might enjoy this.

I do want to intern in DC I want to avoid the summer season, and the toolishness exhibited in the link I posted.

Still crossing my fingers for everyone!

Hahaahaha, that blog is hilarious. Note to self: don’t act like a pretentious ass whilst an intern in DC.

So… tomorrow?

WHofBust, was the Communications Department your number 1 choice?

Actually, yes, it was. I have applied three times and this was my first time being interviewed.

Wow, that’s amazing. I have no evidence for this, but I think if you get an interview for your first choice… they want you.

Thanks! :)

I was pretty shocked. I had spent the day before reading posts on this forum about how “its harder to get this internship than to get into Yale Law school” and yaddayaddayadda… So I was giddy even to be interviewed. I hope we all are rewarded with our obvious interest! It would certainly be a thrill.
