<p>Footnote: "Honestly, I think a factor in applying to Penn was that I was from Philadelphia, plus the fact that I was able to get recommendations from Penn alumni that had actually seen how I performed, and not just on paper. But I think the biggest factor in my admissions process was my strong grades. Strong SAT scores (2000+) may be good, but one can coach for them in 6 months to a year. But it’s not as easy to stay focused on your grades for four straight years.
Don’t try to write what you think the admissions officers will like to hear; write your essays from your heart, and not based on what someone else tries to tell you.
About interviews, I think that they should only be used to try to explain unique situations, but overall, use them to give yourself a positive image for the school. However, I didn’t need one because I had attended a Penn summer program - sort of a month long “interview”, so to speak. </p>
<h2>As for special talents, you need to show how you show leadership and dedication to an activity that shows your talent - whether it be singing, acting, dancing, computing, etc."</h2>
