Darn it! I thought my worries would be over--accepted or rejected, but I thought wrong.

Yuck! I so wanted to go to these schools but it says in the waitlisted letters that if i really still have them in mind, I should get more letters of recomendations, win more awards, write more essays, get in touch with the admissions office, etc. etc. And then there's still the chance that they'll outright reject me.

If I get into Harvey Mudd, Cornell, Berkeley, and Carnegie-Mellon, should I spend the time still trying to get off the waitlist and into the school?

And if I get waitlisted to THESE ^ four schools, I think i'll just go fill out an application to Burger King right now...

hey, waitlisting isn't so bad, cuz it means you made the cut! You would've been admitted, but they just didn't have enough space! Be glad that your are in MIT's top 2000 or so applicants, that's an accomplishment in and of itself!

Yeah, making the waitlist means that they like you and you are qualified to go there, there just isn't enough space. I was waitlisted too, so...we should start a club.

Yea, I was waitlisted at MIT and got a likely letter from Cornell Engineering, and was a Robertson deal for UNC Chapel Hill (OOS) i'm telling you man, waitlisting ain't such a bad thing especially at the schools you're talking about!
