What major? Congrats btw!!!

Anyone get the call who is out of state and not a minority?

Anyone think that maybe since they were handed a list of names they could be doing it in alphabetical order? My name is at the end of the alphabet and I haven’t received a call, though I would consider myself a competitive applicant (2270 SAT, 4.51 UC GPA, etc etc). Anyone who got a phone call want to share the first letter of their last name? Just a random guess to keep you guys all from worrying to death :P

The calls are part of their early calling campaign! And they call 2+ weeks ahead of time before decisions are posted, so it is NORMAL to get a call and not have an updated portal. They are scheduled to update freshman decisions on the portal this weekend. And I received a call from UCSD last Thursday (missed it though but I am just hoping it was for this reason), and my last name starts with a Y. So I think the callers may have been handed an alphabetical list of their own, but ultimately, it is up to the caller to decide when and which people to call first.

Looks like my theory was wrong haha :P

Well I just got my call if anyone was still wondering if they were giving them out! Super excited I got regents too!

There seems to be absolutely no method to the madness of how they call. Several people had my school have gotten calls across the alphabet (for sure from C-W) and people with stats/quality both above and below me in the past week. After much stress and anticipation I finally got the call 15 minutes ago. Also I suppose in this calling campaing Asian is considered a minority for the school since many of them at my school have gotten the call, so I guess maybe the only nontargeted race is pure whites,unless someone on this board that is of just White ethnicity(no racial mix) has gotten the call too which if so I dont understand the point of this campaing supposedly targeting minorities. Im also looking forward to attending the overnight event that it seems like all people getting the call are also invited to.

Just got called! I’m a minority but I thought that UCSD was a reach since UCI hasn’t emailed me. This feels like it was a mistake my stats aren’t very high, but maybe my essays were good.
GPA 3.95 ACT 28
If I got the call does this mean I got into my first choice major (Bio) and college (Warren)?

I am not a minority I am completely white. xD

@californiangal:
You’re stats aren’t really low at all! You’re right in their IQR (25-75 percentile)! Congratulations! The woman who spoke to me commented on my math major, though I didn’t hear anything about getting into my college of choice (Muir). Though she did tell me I got regents, which means I got into the college of my choice. So I don’t know exactly but hopefully you get into Warren! Congrats!

Congrats to everybody who has gotten the call!
@dyno0919 and @collegcondor

if you don’t mind, what are your stats?

Just got the call! The guy told me I got the Regents Scholarship and that I was automatically accepted into Revelle, my first choice. And for the record, I am out-of-state and not a minority.

i havent gotten the call yet. now im getting scared, i heard they’re calling underrepresented students… :/

That’s about it I think. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. :)

@dyno0919
wow you have great stats. if only mine were that good haha

They’re alright; unfortunately they weren’t good enough to land me in my top picks. I did love UCSD when I visited though, and would be happy to attend there. The regents is a welcome bonus. I was on the fence between Berkeley (if I got in) and San Diego, but the relief of getting top pick for all of my classes, housing for my entire stay, honors courses, research opportunities, and all that jumbo really made the decision for me. La Jolla is a wonderful little place and Berkeley is a dump. I’m gonna have fun haha Good luck to everyone and congratulations on everyone’s acceptances!

I got the call but I was too busy playing TF2 to pick up. Maybe I should set my priorities straight. I’m guessing this means I’m a Regents scholar, since everyone who got a call tonight seems to have gotten it.

UCSD called me again today…no matter what, happy to hear that the call is not a joke…:)

Good luck to everyone! I’m still waiting for the email…so nervous~

does anybody have their number? i got a missed call from san diego… :0

@ernestjohn:

It can be different numbers, but the area code should be 858(La Jolla) :)

@admissionhopeful. My stats are alot lower compared to college confidential averages.

SAT: 1830
SAT II: 620 US History, 590 Math II
GPA UW: 3.77
GPA W: 3.98
4 on APUSH, 3 on AP English Lang and AP World
My main claim to fame I think is likely my ExtraCurriculars. I volunteered for over 1,200 hours at the LA Zoo, and made some notable achievements there including being 1 of 7 students from the volunteer program and local Zoo Magnet combined to win a free scholarship to go on a 2-wk Earthwatch program to Kenya last summer. I’ve also led a cell phone drive at my school for the Zoo for the 09 year of the Gorilla to recycle coltan collecting 300+ cell phones in the process, and took part in many other Zoo leadership and volunteer positions.
Through them I also joined the Roots and Shoots program, a youth program of the jane Goodall Institute (an easy comparison if u dont know is Interact as a youth program to Rotary). I was seleced to be one of 8 members in CA to represent in a statewide council that helps lead and oversee state and nationwide campaigns and events.
At School I just mainly take part in environmental and Humantiarian based clubs like Green Earth, Roots and Shoots, Global leadership, etc. My essay I pretty much capitalize off the interest of environmental studies and conservation along with humanitarian efforts and so forth.

feel free to ask me too if you have any questions.
Also don’t feel overly concern if you dont match the CC averages, about 10 others from my school got the call that have equivalent to lower stats than mine.
