@collegecondor
wow, you’re right, you have amazing extracurriculars. congrats, you sure deserve it! did you say that you were asian?

I’m hispanic, but a bunch of people from my school that have gotten in are Asians with equivalent stats to me. If your stats are higher you have a strong advantage even if you’re not as EC oriented, 2 friends of mine with a higher SAT and GPA (high 1900 and moderatley higher GPA) had zip notable ECs and got in. So far about a dozen at my school got the call, and only 2 are hispanic among them.

My SAT is 1990 and my ACT is 30 and my UC GPA is 3.86. My gpa is whats scaring me, since I feel like it’s not competitive to every body else’s.

If you wrote some great essays and have at least played a sport, volunteered, or held a leadership position or two, I’d say you’re well within reach. Your GPA isn’t that bad, but it would help if you had the other things to sort of boost you in.

i played a varsity sport for three years and am the president of a club. im also in nhs and organized a community event. i thought my essays were good, but one might be the stereotypical essay: about parents who were immigrants. i know i should just relax and wait for the decision but i cant help but stress!

A couple of days and you’ll know :). I’d say you have a pretty good shot, but I don’t want to get your hopes up. I hate having to read through chance threads and have all these people say you can definitely get in and then not.

understandable. thanks for all your help!

I got called today and they talked about the overnight program in early April and so on.

I also got called - regents scholar!

First off, congratulations to all of you who have been accepted to UCSD! UCSD is a great school and I’m positive that you’ll have a blast here if you do decide to enroll here.

Unfortunately, the incoming freshmen class is incredibly large and we cannot call all freshmen. I understand that there are different programs on campus who have started “phone-a-thons” to call the incoming freshmen, congratulating them. I do not believe that there is a set order/precedence but there is a definite push to enroll underrepresented students. Keep in mind that most of the callers are students who volunteer their time to call the freshmen. Next week is finals week and many of them have exams and midterms all over the place! It’s hard to get a large group of callers, making it even harder for calls to get to all the freshmen.

So, for those of you who do not get the call (I didn’t get the call), wait a couple of days and you just might be pleasantly surprised

Hopefully, I’ll see some of you here at UCSD on Admit Day!

@valerierose that makes me feel a lot better. thank you :D

I got the call and got Regents! I am not a minority, and I am instate just in case anyone is curious.

I’m surprised I got a call, though, because I’m about as far away from as URM as you can get. Perhaps they’ve started calling others who aren’t URMs. Anyway, congrats and good luck to all!

Finally a call. Was getting kind of worried. Not a URM, and my other friends who got it were not URM as well.
