We have!
D2 clicked, paid the deposit and committed to Tulane. Remember to "accept" the conditions of any awards provided.
We are all so excited!!!

Son committed - deposit in, signed up for orientation w/hotel + plane in June, even paid for plane tix + hotel for parent weekend in Oct. We have to wait on move in weekend (though we have hotel) to see about the NOLA experience. All set and psyched!!! Vitrac - I hope he clicked conditions to the scholarship that you referenced when he accepted his admission offer - not sure???

Btw - he recently checked his Tulane email - tons of things already in his mailbox!

My son has accepted, our travel has been booked for orientation in June. Hotel is booked for family weekend but not flights yet (might go through Atlanta to pick up my sister…not sure). Also have not yet booked for move-in although I think I might book the hotel at least at this point. He would be going down alone if he gets the NOLA Experience, but I’ll probably go Thursday-Monday just to give myself a couple of days to fool around. :)

My daughter accepted in December, I hope she accepted the conditions. We are going to orientation in June. We have flights and hotel. We also have hotel for family weekend but no flights yet. We haven’t done anything for move in yet because of NOLA. My dd is extremely excited but reality is setting in and she is getting nervous as well.

She said there are over 900 people on Facebook and there’s a questionnaire for room mates but she hasn’t done it yet. She’s hoping she’ll meet someone at orientation. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, for family weekend, do siblings usually go as well?

Wow, just booked a flight to NOLA for August, for move in … only $250 non-stop. That’s the cheapest one I’ve found yet from NY. (I only booked a ticket for me, hopefully I can get him on the same flight if he doesn’t go to the NOLA Experience)

I made this mistake for D1–I neglected to click on the Financial Aid tab. So click on it and there may be something there you have to “agree” to or “accept conditions.”
Oliver-there is no rush to complete roommate questionnaire. Your D may want to chat with someone on FB and then arrange to meet at orientation–or arrange to attend the same orientation.

Thanks. If they originally didn’t accept the terms and conditions, can they go back and do it? What happened with your DD? My D is still sleeping and I don’t have her password so I can’t check.

I have committed!! Pay deposit and signed up for the June orientation! It was the bet gift I could have asked for! Can’t wait to be a part of the Tulane family!

Oliver - siblings are quite common at “parents” weekend.

Oliver-If you didnt originally check the terms and conditions, it isn’t too late at all. For D1 I discovered my mistake when I got the first tuition bill. I called Admissions and I gotta say, those first few seconds on “hold” were a killer! But, it’s no big deal. Don’t stress.
Elizabeth–Welcome!!

Thanks FC and Vitrac, I’m obviously relieved.

On the roommate selection: Tulane will initiate something called Roommate Click (if I am remembering the name correctly) and it will allow them to search through the group of either males or females depending on which you are and see how the other incoming freshmen’s cleanliness habits, study habits, party habits, match up with theirs. They also typically upload a photo. They can start chatting on FB with a few of the people they identify as a potentially good match and see where that leads. For S1, it worked out that he and his potential roommate were scheduled for back to back orientations so he had a chance to meet him in person the night before his roommate returned home just before his own orientation. Of course, they can use the surveys on FB to do the same thing but not everyone joins the FB group. Not everyone does Roommate Click either, but between the two, I think it’s pretty easy to find someone.

Sending positive thoughts to all of you who have decided. D is going to Honors Weekend on April 7,8. You all sound so excited.

Question about accepting terms and conditions for FA - is this for merit awards too??? I went on the web site but could not tell if it was all one in the same???

Yes, Bloomy, for merit awards too. Ask your student to log onto the Gibson account and click on the Financial Aid tab (even tho the merit award is not technically financial aid).

OK - so we went on Gibson - we see student financial aid links to the left - when we click on those there is a pull down menu for year (like 2013-14) and a submit button - is that what you are talking about???

I don’t know why I find these “accept” terms so intimidating - we found exactly what you were talking about + took care of it Vitrac. That was a GREAT recommendation that we never would have realized + would have fainted when we got that first tuition bill - Thank you, thank you, thank you !!! Is it only in the 1 spot you have to do that or are there other areas we need to look at???

You are done, Bloomy! Glad I could help. Yeah, the instructions (what instructions?) could be clearer, right?

I guess this will need to be done every year? Do you get some kind of reminder in the future or is the tuition bill your reminder???

All this is covered at Orientation at the parents’ sessions. Tuition bills are generally online along with bookstore charges, charges on the student’s flashcard, pharmacy, etc.
