In short, I am hoping to transfer to UCSC from a CCC, but have quite a bit of foreign (Dutch) university coursework completed. I also attended 2 Art Academies there for a very short period a long time ago and both schools are struggling to "locate" my files. If all my university credits transfer (Dutch Uni + CCC) I'm precisely at the 89 unit limit. If none of the Dutch courses transfer, I end up just under the 60 unit minimum.

So, does anyone have experience with such situations. Eg. How problematic is it if the art schools can't produce transcripts but can verify enrollment?

How can I get a reliable idea of which courses will transfer? I already spoke to a UCSC International Admissions person, but she doesn't have a clear answer and I'm waiting for her to get back to me as she is asking around.

Has anyone transferred BFA art school classes into the UC system? I don't even remember which classes I had exactly. Mostly courses like Screenwriting, Sound Design, Editing, Cinematography etc. similar CCC classes don't transfer to UC it seems, but who knows if it is different if the classes were taught at 4-year schools?

There is no way to “get a reliable idea of which courses will transfer.” UCs refuse to do course evaluation until you apply, so you basically have to “pay” ($70 application fee) to get the information.

Thanks for posting that link AskMsSun!
This is such a frustrating situation as it really doesn’t give “dependable” answers at all. UGH. What is frustrating is that with the UC-transfer courses I am planning on taking this year, I would be just under the 89 unit limit if all or most of my classes transfer. However, if they won’t transfer any Dutch classes I would be at 53 transfer units. What’s frustrating is that I can easily take the extra 7 units to take and make sure I end up with 60 units minimum, but then if they do find most/all my Dutch classes transferable, I’d end up over 89 units.

On top of this, I am only applying to UCSC (+3 CSU’s), and UCSC is my 1st choice by a landslide. Ugh… This is very demoralizing

Any idea when they do this exactly? Applications are due November, but answers don’t go out till March. I just need to know what transfers before spring semester (1 feb) starts… any idea what the likelyhood is that that will happen??!

You have to apply and then when you get admitted, you find out which courses will transfer. It’s kind of backwards, but that’s how the UCs work.
