Who has gotten in / when did u apply

I'm in!!

OOS
29 ACT
3.96 GPA
rank: 4/331
10/9

^ So, vc08, are u gonna take UMich up on their admission offer? Since you were such an active poster in the Berkeley thread, I thought you were a Berkeley student. Guess I was wrong.

Congrats!

I told you so! Congrats!

Haha, thank you UCBChemEGrad!

In state. Application completed 10/16. Received acceptance 11/8.

ACT 34, GPA 4.13, 4 AP complete + 4 AP senior yr.
Rank 1/435

Ha, I don't know yet. I'm a huge Cal fan and my brother goes there, so I know a lot about the school, etc. But I really wanted to go OOS for college, just to try something new. I'm not going to commit until I'm absolutely positive though. We'll see, I guess. Go blues (UM and Cal)!

lol the same week we get in michigan loses to wisconsin

^ You can still change your mind. :p

vc08, I understand...sometimes you don't want to follow in your brother's footsteps and make your own path.

i hope i get in the same week michigan beats ohio state

sorry i don't think there will be decisions that week (next round is scheduled for 23rd)

ha, i was thinkin the same thing niceilike!

UCB: my dad grew up in the bay area and raised us as huge fans (though the holmoe era was spiteful), so i've been following them forever. but once my bro got in i figured my dad's dream had come true, so that kinda took the pressure off for me to explore new things (i knew my brother was good for something lol). good news is that i won't have to change colors! what brings you to the michigan forum though?

^ I was trolling. I remember responding to a chances thread from joshrk22, and saw he got in, so I wanted to congratulate him. Then I saw your post.

U Mich is a great school. I have a lot of respect for it. A couple of my cousins went to Big 10 schools (UIUC and Wisconsin); even though they can't stand Michigan, I like it.

Regarding Cal's Holmoe era, I know it well. I went to school during that time...we never once beat Stanford...very sad.

Yeah, I applied to Wisco too, but now that I got into Michigan, that's out. It is an awesome school though.

Yeah, at least Tedford can beat Stanfurd.

The range for UMICH is 27-31. Considering that UMICH is HUGE on URMs, many of the kids scoring >27 are URMs. There is also no doubt in my mind that with 3.2 mil college applicants the average will bump up a point to >28. 3.8 is also in that range. Without substantial ECs a 28 and a 3.8 makes you a below average UMICH student and therefore prone to rejection EA. I'm not arguing something as obvious as this. Some UMICH students will def support this notion.

The far majority of the scores below 27 come from white students. A 28 and 3.8 makes you an AVERAGE IN-STATE UMich student. Out of state admits inflate the standardized test score range A LOT. For an instate student, anything above a 27 is good.

Mid 50% for instate is probably a 26-30, at MOST.

OOS
GPA- 4.0 unweighted (4.986 weighted)
Rank- 1 of 428 (6 AP's this year, 3 last year)
ACT- 33
Average EC

The got all my materials on 10/17, I was accepted on 11/7

michiganman: i definitely agree with you about the scores inflation, i know a lot of instaters who got in with 26-27, but most OOSers had 30+. i had a 29 and i was on the low end of the range.

my friend applied to UofM (in state) on the 30 of october, but her ACT results won't be out until the 14th of November. Do you think she will get her decision by the 23rd. If not does any one know the next decision day?

Thanks

if she sent previous scores that are good enough to get her admitted, they won't need to look at the new ones. if not, i would be very surprised if she get admitted by the 23rd, due to the volume of apps they are receiving right now. the next decision date is 2 fridays after the 23rd (they release them every other fri from here on out).

noelle, i'm pretty sure as long as she took the test before the deadline and put that on her application, they will allow it.

As much as I have a difficult time believing it, in the last eight weeks I have been told on two different occasions by counselors in the Admissions office that residency status doesn't matter any longer in determining who gets in and who doesn't.
