Who said the Pac-10 is a weak conference?

Watch out! Stanford's turning things around. But USC looks terrible...maybe too many injuries?

Should be an interesting Big Game...

Watch THE Ohio State University jump to #2.....

^ Wouldn't bother me.

Why would OSU be 2? We were 3, the former 2 lost, we should be 2.

start:

welcome to the world of big time football: the SEC is by definition the #1 football conference. And secondly, the next big set of voters hail from the midwest -- most Wisconsin voters will now vote for Tressel. I wuz watching the Missou-Nebraska blowout tonite and both TV announcers said that OSU should move up ahead of Cal.

I'm a big Pac 10 fan, but also a political realist.

I'd rather Cal go to the Rose Bowl and win versus going to the NC game and lose.

All we need is Oregon to beat USC and USC to beat CAL

It's the end of the Pete Carroll era! I say they lose to ASU, Oregon, ND, Cal and UCLA... and Pete Carroll goes to coach the Chargers next season.

I can dream, right?

nope you can't dream like that, but i can see them losing only to Oregon and UCLA!

I think USC will cream UCLA, but lose to Cal and Oregon (I would almost bet on Cal beating them, esp. bc they have the home advantage, and USC's defense isn't as good this year).

UCB: PLEASE, send Pete to SD!!! Anything will beat Turner!

I'd love to see Cal play LSU in the NCG, especially after all that stuff their coach said about the Pac-10 earlier this year. But, I must admit, I'd love to see Cal win the Rose Bowl first.

And there is a petition on facebook to get Tedford to be the next Michigan coach. I thought it was pretty funny, actually.

losing first string defenders certainly wont help, but usc's defense actually held up until the last two plays of the game, but with 4 potential all-american defensive linemen, im surprised usc couldnt get anyone in the stanford QBs face.

it was the offense that just sputtered. there was virtually no running presence from their 23984728 RBs. booty threw 4 picks, including one that was returned for a TD. i wouldnt be surprised to see a QB change next game.

I wouldn't either, but Booty had a broken finger, so that might allow him to slip by and keep his starting job. Still though, it's not like they're short on great QBs. I don't know why they didn't put Sanchez in.

I read a funny quote in the L.A. Times: "USC fans want to know, can Booty on the bench still win the Heisman?"

LOL

This week's sign of the Apocalypse: Cal is #2 in the country.

<a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/10/07/top25.ap/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/10/07/top25.ap/index.html</a></p>

the ap pols is worthless, but Cal also #2 in coaches poll. Note, however, THE OSU now has two first place votes, up from one last week.

All the polls other than the BCS rankings near the end of the season are irrelevant.
Poor Booty, he was never as good as Palmer or Leinart. Anyways, John David's Heisman smells like Booty.

blue: so what, THE LSU is still a unanimous pick in the AP Poll, which counts every bit as much as the coaches poll in the BCS rankings. Besides, the Big 10 is a weak conference this year, probably behind the Pac-10, SEC, and ACC in toughness, so OSU will have to prove that they deserve to be there.

Actually, the AP poll isn't factored into the BCS ranking. After 2004 (or 2005? I can't remember,) the AP told BCS to stop using their ranking as a factor.

The Harris poll has replaced the AP poll as far as BCS relevance goes.

vc08:

The AP demanded out of the BCS bcos journalists should be reporting news not participating in making it. But, in essence, it's all bcos of what happened to Cal-Texas earlier. Several big-12 sportswriters were pressured by their local school to rate Texas higher for the good of hte league. (It was made clear that a lower vote for Texas would mean lack of access to lockerrooms, etc.)

^ I still despise Mack Brown...
