Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

lol and from what i learned from the Fall admissions, when they say November, that probably means middle of December :stuck_out_tongue: :P

For the instructor evaluation form do the teachers have to write by hand their recommendation on that sheet. Or can they type up their recommendation and attach it to that sheet?

Brandnew, when you talk about the why ILR essay are your referring to this one?:

“Tell us what you’d like to major in at Cornell and why, how your past academic or work experience influenced your decision, and how transferring to Cornell would further your academic interests.”

They can type it up; ideally your professor has more glowing things to say about you than that tiny space given on the sheet. =) Also, sometimes
handwriting can be difficult to decipher.

Btw, for the College Official’s Report, I was shuffled around from my newly appointed advisor (never met her before, and incidentally, she’s never been an advisor before and has never filled out the College Official’s Report before), to my head of department, to the registrar, because no singular person had access to both my disciplinary report/academic report, and no one knew if my school ranked/how many people are in my graduating class. Also equally unfortunate, I never met any of these people before in my life, so the whole evaluation part of that report, they had to put “N/A” or “no basis for evaluation” lol. I’m hoping that they can just fall back on my professor’s rec letter for that whole part.

@TFN

Yea, they’re welcomed to type up their thoughts. A history professor of mine just filled out the first page of the form by hand (the portion which involves checking off which level of competency the student possesses) and then wrote a full letter about his opinion of my performance in his class to satisfy the requirements of the second page. And yes, that’s what he’s referring to.

@ Az.

I’m having problems with that as well. I e-mailed the dean of my specific college and she never wrote me back, so now I have to go to another adviser who I’m sure has no clue of who I am just so that they can say I’m in good standing and have no disciplinary record.

Is anyone else going crazy waiting yet? I have this crazy wish that I might close my eyes and when I open them, it’ll be November.

The only hope I have is that because it’s rolling admissions and I submitted so early, I know I’ll hear back early as well.

the admissions people are kind of crazy. they never get back to you when they say they will. we’ll probably know in december if we’re lucky.

Thanks Azuzephyr and east89.

Reading last year’s Spring Cornell Transfer thread, most of the people in the thread found out within the first week or so of December when the admissions office had said notifications came out mid to late December =x But a considerable amount were rejections, scarily

I think you only have to write your DOB if you’re submitting the application by mail. It doesn’t say anywhere on the commonapp website that your DOB is required on your essays. I didn’t include my DOB on my essays either b.c I submitted it online.

The above message is intended for Foshodub.

P.S. Is there anyone applying to the Hotel School?

Is there any where that lists the amount of students they took into each school as a transfer from fall? I know i found it before.

What would you guys give as an estimate for spaces they would have for spring?

Here are the Fall 09’ numbers: http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf

Has anybody received their application ID via e-mail yet? I’ve been checking mine constantly waiting for it haha.

We should be getting them in the next week if you submitted earlier than the 15th or something (I submitted September 3rd
?). But if you don’t get it by October 1st and you submitted 2 weeks previous to that date, you’re supposed to call.

Those fall 09 numbers include guaranteed transfers right? I wonder how many guaranteed transfers actually decide not to attend in the end.

i know a bunch who decided not to attend or who couldnt manage their end of the deal, but then again, they also give GTs for the spring, so you never know who will or won’t show up for next semester.

TFN, yah thats the onee

how do u get GT !?? i’m curious

ok i lied
i’m not just curious about GT i WANA get one just in case something bad happens this spring
by something bad i mean rejection lol

Azuzephyr, i started reading the spring 09 thread too and its pretty funny because the way everyone was describing the waiting process is sooooo true.

you call every other day because they keep telling you “call back in a few days” until more days, then weeks, and eventually a whole month an a half have passed before you get any sort of word. by the end of the whole waiting time, you’ve given up all hope and have accepted defeat and death by application process :P

don’t worry, i promise you’ll all love it <3

you get GT as an alternative to a regular acceptance, so you need to be acceptance worthy either way. they decide, so there isn’t anything that you can do to make yourself more likely to get GT

you can’t get a GT. GTs are only for seniors applying out of highschool. its already been pointed out that the whole application process is different for a GT.
