Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

Water, az, ironic, val- Thanks. I’m just getting pretty nervous, so vindication from you guys really means a lot. Also, water, you must have had some really good essays and ECs when you applied last semester (no offense). And yea, my actual last name is my screen name on CC.

Jemma- Congratulations!

My interview with Ian is today at 2:30. Hopefully all goes smoothly. I really should get some sleep now. I still haven’t had a chance to review essays since I’ve been reading these boring books and writing reviews on them for class, but I’ll get to them once all of that is out of the way.

East- Good luck with your interview, I’m sure you’ll do great. Quick question, did your missing documents have been checked off from the status? My instructor evaluation is still not checked.

I’m going to send an email to my professor to re-send the LOR.

I think that the application process is self-selective in a sort of way, that is, those who have the will and courage to submit an application to Cornell are demonstrating that they would really love to attend!

That said, everyone here definitely has a shot at getting in. There’s no point in being nervous because, well, we’ve already sent everything in! Still, I can imagine that most of us can’t help but be nervous (myself included), but I try to distract myself with things once that thought kicks in.

Any other CAS applicants here?

Jemma- thanks. My stuff still hasn’t been checked off. In fact, I got an email from the admissions department this morning saying that my application will be withdrawn if these materials aren’t received by november 1st. In order to meet this deadline, they said I’d have to send the stuff in within the next 10 days. This makes no sense since I sent my transcript in over a month ago and I sent the college official’s report in through express mail and usps said it already arrived in Ithaca. They said I could fax in everything but the transcript so I’m screwed if the transcript somehow got lost.

Stryke- I’m a fellow CAS applicant. What major are you applying for?

East- I got the same email. Thankfully, I have a copy from the LOR my professor sent, so Ill just fax them the copy. I hope you can send everything in time. I think maybe since both our documents were sent so early, maybe they misplaced it ???

Applying for Computer Science, how about yourself?

Jemma- I don’t even think it’s feasible for me to send in my transcript at this point since it takes the school about 5 business days to make them and then a couple of days for them to be sent to my address. I’ll talk to Ian about it when he calls. I hope everything has at least been received by Cornell.

Some of my professors suggested that they would write rec letters for me. I asked Cornell and they told me I can still send rec letters to Cornell by email…do you think this’ll increase my chances? OR nobody really cares about rec letters

No, they probably do care about recs. Actually, probably a lot. Haha.

East, so your interview was a phone interview? I hope they end up getting everything.

As for me…my app status says ‘forwarded to review’ but I haven’t received any confirmation e-mails or gotten the transfer packet in the mail.

Oh, and do midterm grades need to be in by November 1st? Mine probably will be, but I’m not entirely sure.

east - how was your interview? i’ve heard only good things about ian, so i’m sure it was fine.

water - i’m pretty sure the absolute latest anything (including missing materials) can be sent is nov 1.

my application has been under review for a while as well, but i also didn’t get anything in the mail or whatever. do you think i should call and tell them i’m going to transfer day? do you think they’ll mark it down on my application or whatever?

Yea…Ian never called. I set up the interview for 2:30 today a couple of weeks ago and it’s now 4:10, so…yea.

i thought you were supposed to call…

or at least that’s how it was whenever i had an appointment to speak with the humec guy. call and see what happened.

I didn’t think it made sense to call them. Anyway, never mind. Apparently, I wasn’t getting service in the building which I was in around 2:00 and a Cornell rep left me a voicemail saying that Ian would call me between the hours of 2:30-4:00 since they were busy in the office during that time. It’s still almost 4:30 but the rep explicitly stated not to call back and that Ian would give me a call when he got a chance.

You’ll get called soon or tomorrow for sure, they wouldn’t just leave you hanging.

oh ok good, then i’m glad it’s all working out for you  i’m sure you’ll do great!

It’s cool. I’m not stressing it. I just don’t want them to call at an inopportune moment, but odds are that I can reschedule since this wasn’t my fault.

And thanks Ironic.

Stryke- I am a government major :)

East- Don’t worry I am sure if you explain your situation, they’ll understand. If you still have receipt that confirm that it arrived at Ithaca, keep it as evidence that you did sent it and it did arrived. Maybe it’ll help with your situation. I hope you get everything in time. You’ll soon get that call from Ian and you will rock it ;)

I have another professor (Taught me 300/400 level poli sci courses during the last semester) who wrote an LOR for the two other universities I am applying to. His LOR was amazing, he put me in the 1% in everything and exclaimed that he only taught 4 other students who have the same caliber as me. All are lawyer and one of which passed with a perfect score his bar exam. But I don’t know if I should ask him to send it to Cornell. He will absolutely do it through email. My LOR for Cornell is from another of Poli Sci professor and he also puts in the 1% in everything. I didn’t know both of these professors hold me to such great esteem. Do you guys think I should ask my other professor to send another copy to Cornell?

Btw, whats with the whole transfer packet??? I’m a bit confused with that.

wow jemma im happy for you!! and i see you wanna be a lawyer just like me (well i wanna be a intellectual property lawyer whereas you seem to have a different taste in law thou)

valvsu- Thanks  I want to be a civil rights lawyer, hopefully work for the UN or Amnesty International ;). Did Cornell send you the instruction of how would the email be? He scanned a copy. Do you just ask the professor to send it to the undergrad email or what? Does he put my name in the subject title? What would be the procedures? To who will he send it too? sorry for all the questions lol

well they didn’t really tell me how to. they just told me to ask the professors to send them to Cornell by email. i was actually thinking about the same thing too lol im sorry that i dont have any answers to your questions lol
