Who's going to their Senior prom?

Me and my friends were not going to go to prom, but our anti-prom plans were cancelled so we all paid today and we're gonna crash that shindig. The only downside is the prom is in the Bronx and i'm from Queens..gotta go through 4 boroughs to get there, but hey, we have a limo.

I'm a junior and I went. My school is TINY (180 kids k-12) and so we let freshman through seniors go. Still only about 35 couples xD
Anyway, a few of my friends and I went with guy friends and had an AWESOME time. My best friend and I bought the same dress (same brand and all) but hers was silky red and mine was brocaded creamish-white.

It's completely free to GO to prom .(otherwise we'd have half as many couples) My dress cost $80 bucks, flowers $27, hair $30, nails $4, shoes $4 (no I'm not missing digits. I wore flip-flops)
and my date paid for pictures :D my total prom expenses were less than half the cost of my best friends dress (that was the exact same brand as mine mind you.. hers was bought at a fancy bridal shop & mine was from Deb)

With the end of that rant, I say, unless you've been dating for quite a while and can depend on your boyfriend, don't go with him. My aforementioned friend went with her current boyfriend(s) the last two years.
Last year her date got mad over nothing, freaked out and made her leave early.
Year before guy came two hours late.
Also... if you don't really know your guy you're likely not comfortable dancing around him and/or will want to spend the whole night sitting on his lap.
Which essentially defeats the purpose of going to prom in the first place when you could have sat on his lap at home O.O
In a dress as well if you so pleased.

Why is everyone so anti-prom? Are you like anti-social? HOw the hell do you plan on crashing prom? Why can't you just got there and try to have a good time with the rest of your friends?

I'm not anti-prom in the sense that it shouldn't be there, but MY friends weren't the ones going to it, and I didn't want to spend $120 to be with non-friends on the night that was supposed to be for the people closest to me. Crashing prom is just a phrase, I consider me and my friends pretty fun so we're gonna liven it up a bit.

I think the Senior Ball bids (one bid per couple) are around $180 at my school. But I guess it's worth it, since the dance is held on a ferryboat (GREY'S ANATOMY LOVERS know the significance of ferryboats, hehe) and dinner/transportation is included.

Mine's tonight... I feel a little sad that I'm not going, but only because my mom was really excited about it (I'm not really into "girly" stuff so she was really excited to take me dress shopping, help me do my hair, etc.) I think I'm going to go see a movie tonight with some friends instead.

I'm going to my prom. I have a date, but I never asked her. It basically was like an arranged prom date. I like this better. I wish we still had arranged marriages.

I went last month. (and I'd only gone to ONE dance previously, and hated that one). my date was nice/sweet, but there was nothing between us, which kind of sucked.

my only regret is that he paid for the whole thing (ticket + post prom) and I probably wasn't worth it.

Goooooo. I thought I would hate my prom but I went and it was fabulous. Plus it's pretty lame to roll up to the after parties without going to the actual party. And the after parties are uber fabulous. Drunk Russian man fighting on bus. Enough said.

I'm not going to prom. In fact, I've never been to a school dance--everything I've heard about them sounds like no fun to me--so I haven't got any desire to go to this one. I suppose I would have gone if someone had asked me, but only if a) he was someone I liked and b) he really had his heart set on going to prom, rather than just taking me out on a date. But no one asked me, just like no one's ever asked me to a dance or on a date... well, okay, except this one kind of creepy guy in 7th grade... but thankfully I wasn't allowed to date until I was 15. Whew. :p

I decided to go at the last minute and literally bought a ticket right before the junior council advisor took the money to the student back to get everything organized. I went with my best friend and had an amazing time. I bought my dress at Macy's for $88 and a purse/clutch at Bliss for $16. Oh, and my ticket cost $85. I got the corsage + boutinierre (sp) for free because my cousin owns a flower shop and I asked him to make them for me. I'm glad things worked out because I went shopping plus made the arrangements the night before prom.
