Who's going to visit?

So i live about one hour north of LA and its a good 6+ hour drive to Davis for me. I really want to visit once before i make my decision though and want to go on the Welcome and Picnic day (21st,22nd). For all of you who are going to these - how are you going about it? Are you flying in and staying in sacramento or what? Im thinking about just going by my lonesome and staying there cuz of Cost $$$. Thanks for the feedback in advance.

I live in Orange, CA and my family is taking me up there on Sunday cause I have to decide between Davis and Irvine. We're goning to leave at like 4 in the morning...then spend some time there checking the campus out. Afterwards my dad is dragging us over to Lake Tahoe where we'll spend the night and then the next day head back. You can come too if you'd like! Hahahahahhaha. :)

I went on a college fiesta during summer up to the bay area and davis was the last school we visited so i was too tired to even understand what was happening. Tahoe is a fun place to be - esp. if you like gambling :D. Are you going up for open house and picnic day or w/e?

Picnic Day weekend gets pretty crowded for hotels downtown but you still might be able to find a decent place to stay in Davis. I don't think there are any flea-bag hotels in the downtown area and the prices are pretty low (but also not much in the way of high-end hotels, either). If you stay in Sac, you are likely to feel like you are missing a lot (but it is only 15 minutes away). The activity level for that weekend really gives you a good sense of what a good college town Davis is. If you stay somewhere in town, you can then just park your car and walk everywhere you want to go.

Since this is one of the weekends for admitted students, have you tried calling the admissions office to see if they have any places on campus that they can house visiting students?

I am including a couple of Davis web sites that have lots of helpful information for you:
<a href="http://www.city.davis.ca.us/visitors.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://www.city.davis.ca.us/visitors.cfm</a>
<a href="http://www.davisvisitor.com/sub_hotels.php?id=9&city=13%5B/url%5D">http://www.davisvisitor.com/sub_hotels.php?id=9&city=13</a></p>

Alright I just got back from Davis/Lake Tahoe. Davis really is a small town with lots of trees and nature and all that fun stuff. I thought it was beautiful. The campus was a little confusing to get around because there's this forest thing in the middle of it all. It was very cold and rainy so that was another downside. It's also way too far from my home, I've decided. Looks like it is UC Irvine for me. :)

The cold and rain is highly unusual for March/April... it's been a record year for precipitation in NorCal.

Really??? Wow that's unlucky for me. It really dampered the trip. UCD didn't seem as big as I thought it would be for some reason..I was really lost actually (no tours on Sundays) It was cute because my mom was trying to point out any negative things to try to convince me to go to school near home.

I saw lots of ducks and squirrels. My brother threw rocks at them.

There were total of only 6 all dry days in Napa in March - new record (it never happened for 100 years)
