Who's taken the CHSPE before?

Hello! I'm taking the CHSPE next month, and I'm a little scared about getting the results. I've heard it's like the CAHSEE but a bit harder? What was it like for you? What did you use to study? Do you get any scratch paper for the math section? Also, anything you would want to include about the CHSPE, feel free to tell me!
What did you do after passing the CHSPE? Community colleges will accept me, yes? Ah, sorry! I'm just so nervous.

Hi. I am also taking the CHSPE this month like you. I have went through curriculums for the both sections of the test, and it seems like about same as CAHSEE.

The reading subtest might be a bit challenging because it asks you some vocab words and also ask you about exerpts and poems, but these should not be difficult if you at least had a C or above in high school. If not, buy a CHSPE-prep book from a local bookstore or borrow a copy from your local library. These books should get you set up.

The multiple-choice questions on the language subtest are jokes. Nonetheless, the writing task is challenging enough that it would be worthwhile spending time preparing for it. Again, prep books are ideal.

The mathematics section is a bit more higher level (Geometry) than CAHSEE. However, the Geometry questions ask really basic principles such as alternate interior angles and / or similar polygons, so if you took Geometry in you high school it should be no problem. If not, again x2, purchase or borrow a CHSPE-prep book from your local bookstore or library; it should be enough to get you passing (most trustworthy book is Barron’s CHSPE prep book).

Many practice questions can also be found when you type “chspe practice test” on Google. The one named “Sample Test Questions for the California High … - CHSPE” is an official packet of practice questions from the CHSPE website.

Regarding your questions about acceptance to the community colleges, most of them should accept you, unless they are out-of-state. I am also preparing to go to a college upon passing the CHSPE.

Good luck on the CHSPE tomorrow!
