Why choose Dartmouth for Pre med?

I know Dartmouth has a medical school. Does it have a hospital? What prestigious colleges have both? As in, a medical school and a hospital. And what opportunities are given for pre med students at Dartmouth?

Any current student's input would be greatly appreciated. I will visit soon, but I just want to know about campus life, social activites, nearest shopping and restaurant/city opitions...

What Ivy league school do you think would be best for a student going into pre medical studies and looking to get into a good medical school?

yeah. it has a hospital called Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center…pretty good place with a cancer center and a children’s hospital.

Dartmouth does incredibly well at getting its students into top med schools. This is for aa few reasons - Research opps abound, the advising is fantastic (Nathan Smith Society), and there are lots of opportunities for interaction (i.e. great recs) with professors. Dartmouth’s reputation as an undergrad institution is very strong (like the top LACs). Its hard to beat and in my experience much stronger than some other schools in its peer group.

So, how does the pre-med program at Dartmouth compare with the pre-med program at Duke?

I’m probably attending Dartmouth next fall.
If you’re familiar with Dartmouth, there’s the D-plan and the small student body number. The D-plan enables pre-med students to get internships and shadow opportunities during the school year, which is very advantageous. Small population means that the professors know your name and get to know you personally by the end of the first few weeks. Hence top-notch recs… There should be more advantages (such as foreign study programs, etc)
