Why do they want their transfer app so early?

Goodness, they want the transfer applicaation for the fall semester by November 30! So they'll only see the freshman grades for all juinor transfers. Is UCLA the only school that does that?

Nope. November 30 is just the fall application cut off for all UCs. Since they only use 1 common app (for all of the schools and for all levels of applicants), transfers need to get it in when everyone else does. Transfer decisions are usually sent out about 1-2 months after freshman decisions are.

And actually, they end up seeing all but the last semester's grades. Transfers are required to update their application by sending Fall grades in during January. They don't begin to review apps until Fall grades are received.

The Nov 30 deadline has been used for decades.....

^ ^ ^ Well, I wasn't worrying about college for decades, I'm only 17, so I wasn't even born yet when they probably first used the November 30th deadline, so I'm just asking because it seemed odd to me and I just found this out, thank you very much.

Classy:

sorry, if my post seemed a little harsh, it wasn't meant to be. Many publics have early fall deadlines, and the UC's have just used Nov 30 since at least the 1960's. Also, transfer apps are not notified until late April; thus, you'd think they could have another month to submit their app, but nooooooo. :)
