Cal Poly has a different application process than most colleges. Why do you think you were admitted? From my take on it I think the GPA and SAT/ACT scores were the only things used to do admissions.

i don’t think it is any different than other CSU’s or UC’s.

each UC/CSU probably get around 50,000 applicants. Even if they spent 1 min on each application that is around 100 working days. Maybe around 5 months just do process all those applications?

I’m sure there is some level of automation and RNG involved which is why qualified applicants get turned down.

I got waitlisted last year but applied again this year and I think that had something to do with it.

For transfers, the only noticeably different aspect of the application process was the listing of courses that we have taken. We had to correspond certain areas with courses that fit there, as well as courses specific to our major. Other than that, the applications were pretty much the same for all CSU’s.

Personally, I think I was admitted because of my recent release from active duty military. I can’t really confirm this; my GPA was in the right range to be accepted and I had a good amount of extra curricular hours, but at the time of my application, I had these courses listed as “In-Progress” and “Planned.”

Fall 2012:
Macroeconomics
Accounting 1
Business Law
Calculus 2
Speech

Spring 2013:
Microeconomics
Accounting 2
Statistics
English 2

All of these were mandatory, and my Fall course load was pretty heavy. If I was working in admissions and I saw this, I’d be pretty concerned with the student’s ability to complete such heavy course loads. This leads me to believe that I was admitted because of my Veteran standing, but I could be wrong. This is just a guess of mine.

Because I’m a sexy beast… Duh.
