Why don't the UC's have undergrad business schools?

Except for Berkeley, the UC's don't have undergrad business schools. I think they mostly have graduate business schools. Why don't they have undergrad business? Majors like accounting are pretty popular.

UC Irvine starts an undergraduate business school this year, and UC Merced has had one since their founding about 4 years ago. Also UC Riverside has an undergraduate business school

However, your point is well-taken;–there is no reason for the other UC campuses not to have an undergraduate business school as well. My own son went to college out-of-state for this reason (to go to a great business school), since he couldn’t get into UC Berkeley and didn’t want to go to the lower-ranked UC Riverside or UC Merced programs. He is currently starting his senior college year at Indiana University at Bloomington and is majoring in Business Administration–Legal Studies.

It does take a bit to get an undergraduate business program started–and in the current budget crisis, this means I wouldn’t look for any undergraduate business programs to be started up at the UCs currently without such programs.

Riverside also has an undergrad biz program. But, biz is/was once considered a “terminal degree” in accordance with the Calif Master Plan for Higher Ed. Thus, the Cal States offer biz, but the research-oriented UCs did/do not. (I have no idea how Cal has had undergrad biz forever, but perhaps it’s program was grandfathered in when the Master Plan was developed/approved.
