Why not just apply to UCLA as a math-econ major? If you’re thinking of doing engineering than you should be able to handle the math. Math-Econ majors are eligible for all the econ, actuarial, and engineering jobs. You truly get more diversity. The major itself is only 11 classes.

I majored in Math/Econ and I’m going into Management Consulting. You don’t have to be a biz-econ major to land a consulting/ibanking gig if that’s your goal. I know I didn’t want to major in Biz-Econ. No offense to anyone who’s in it, but I just can’t take the major seriously. To be honest, I just felt like I was screwing around any quarter that I didn’t take math.

TAP significantly reduces the required GPA for admission to BizEcon. I’m pretty sure the 3.94 is quite inflated.

I am applying to Biz Econ with a 3.82 with TAP and all prereqs to be completed by spring. I feel like I have a pretty good shot, but either way I have Math/Econ or Philosophy as alternate major anyways.

I am looking to go into finance (ibanking first, then into the buy side later; private equity etc.), so hopefully I get into BizEcon, but regardless of my UCLA major, I’m planning on getting the MBA or CFA eventually.

I do think that BizEcon would put me in a better position in the job market then one of the other non-impacted majors initially when looking for finance work. thoughts?
