Every school has their fair share of attractive girls; UCSD is just typically seen as not having as many as other schools (SDSU, for example).

there are so many comments on this site about the attractiveness of girls at ucsd and none about the boys, the discussion seemes terribly one sided.

i agree! cus i heard the guys arent too good looking either haha...girls are rated a b- and guys a c+, so doesnt that kinda say something? lol its ok though cus it give us average girls a step up! woot woot for average girls!

not that i go to ucsd and can speak from experience, but people who are overly concerned with its reputation of being boring are probably pretty boring people themselves. those who seek drugs and alcohol as their only forms of entertainment (90% of my high school) may seem fun on the outside, but in reality probably lack much character and substance(no pun intended). im not here to insult those who party a lot, but the truth is is that if you are a genuine and interesting person, you should be able to get something out of no matter where you are. location is not an excuse, look at the fun reputation of sdsu. plus, with the number of students on campus, youre bound to find friends. of course this is all my opinion, but just felt like sharing.

It is what you make it. With 20+ thousand people going there, not everyone is going to have the same attitude. There are going to be some who prefer staying in their dorms studying all weekend, there are going to be those who don't. You can always MAKE something happen, if you can't find anything to do. I know it is a bit harder than just jumping on the boat that someone else started, but it is better than sitting there complaining about nothing else to do.
And for all the people who didn't grow up in the SD area, it is a completely new world, new turf to explore. Things will be interesting. I have lived in rural northern California since I was 2. Even if there isn't a rocking social life, I will be having fun just living in a new area.

People who say it's boring are probably ugly boring people themselves, and hole themselves up in their room playing Starcraft or whatever. Or they're the people who can't have fun without a 40 in their hands.

I will make the people around me have fun. Watch out.

why is ucsd so boring? i'll tell you why. it's because i'm not there yet!!!

I have a High School Junior friend who stayed in the UCSD Warren dorms for a couple days with a friend.

Now mind you, this is Warren, supposedly the school too full of engineers to be hip. During her time there, she was with many awesomely interesting people. Lots of theatre majors, various visual design majors, political science, economics.... you name it, she ran into them. *Alcohol was in the open inside the suites * and people just randomly walked in and out of each others suites as they all had fun.

One night she and a bunch of her friend's friends all went on an adventure into the canyon, moving around signs and such, doing various things and having tons of fun.

She even walked in on one guy and girl going at it in a room. I don't hear it often around this board, but this school in some circles gets referred to as UCSTD....

She came away from the school feeling like it was in fact too much wildness for her to ever be able to handle for more than just a few days.

And this was just a couple regular weekdays during the year.

Basically, this pretty much says that any lifestyle is possible at UCSD. You just have to go out there, and actually live life.

I think we hear about it being boring so much, becuase it is just one of those annoying facts of life, that bad is talked about more than good. Kinda like how teens are always being pegged as being rude, bad behaved, etc.

I was at the campus a few weeks ago and just walking down the main part of campus I head multiple conversations about parties going on that night, and stuff people were going to do over the weekend.

If you are that worried about it being boring, evidently you care more about your social life than education, so go to Chico or something.

"One night she and a bunch of her friend's friends all went on an adventure into the canyon, moving around signs and such, doing various things and having tons of fun."

Wow, just wow, who does that?

On a sidenote atleast La Jolla has nice hidden beaches, unlike mission beach which is disgusting.

College students in the night =P

I've heard a couple good Georgetown stories too. These guys got into the house of a priest of the school who had passed away, and went to the attic, and found tons of awesome valuables that the school nor anyone else had not cared to take. Much of it is now residing in their dorm rooms =P

Yeah man, who doesn't like to go exploring?

Yeah. In fact, I would say exploration constitutes a good 75% of my activities last year with friends.

Ah, man. good times.

every1 runs ucsd down but every1 i know that goes there says its really fun.

yeah thats what i figured..im actually not really concerned w the boringness cus i know i will make friends who have the same interests..im not a partier, but i can find ways to entertain myself! ill sit and twiddle meh thumbs if i have to

I am not too worried about the "dead social scene" as I will be 22 when I start school there, and I will be able to go to bars. I am already past my drink-till-I-throw-up stage but I will miss the alcohol induced stupor that my I enjoyed in my innocence (ages 16 to 18). I love visiting my friend in UCSTD and partying, but if I attend UCSD and there aren't parties I simply plan to go to spend my free time dating and going to restaurants/movies rather than finding a party. Maybe you can count me in on part of the reason SD is dead!

I guess I am typical in that way, and SD is also my 3rd choice back-up to LA and CAL,

cus there are ppl that go on their compies all day and dont do anything else. notice how the ucsd forum has the MOST posts of any UCs...which shows how some ppl on this forum are glued to their computers all day and will probably carry this habit with them to ucsd. look at the numbers of posts from the ppl on this forum too..

loserssss

Actually, unreal, Berkeley and LA kick our ass in terms of posts and topics. Check the number of pages each has compared to ours.

yeah but their posts are meaningful posts anyway and we all have 8 pages

I think you make posts like this to rile people up. So, if anything, you're the loser for sitting on your ass and criticizing people on the internet and trying to start internet draaamaaa.
