Why isn't USC one of the Top Universities?

I was a bit startled to notice that USC is not among CC's Top Universities. It was ranked above UCLA, UVA, UMich, and UNC this year in USNews, and I believe it was already ranked above at least some of them in last year's USNews rankings.

USC has seen rapid improvement in the quality of its students and instruction over the last couple of years. I believe it should be included in the list of Top Universities sometime soon.

Thoughts?

This comes up every few months. CC has not edited the Top Universities list since the website was started.

I was wondering the same thing! When you look at the number of posts regarding USC, it’s far above most other schools. USC received 46,000 applications for 2900 spots and ND received 17,000 applications for 2000 spots. So what is a “top” university? USC should qualify by interest alone if not by ranking (which it does as stated above by Blckmgc)

In the past the owners of the site have been contacted over and over about this. They do not intend to change it now or in the future. It is sadly out of date.

People look at the US News rankings. Nobody looks at the College Confidential rankings.
