Thanks for the response Collegetips - I appreciate it.

Over here VA brotha

Sorry Virginiuh, only sending to Seniors who have applied. I don’t want you to be influenced by my essay ;).

So close…

Lol… I like to look at people’s past posts before I send them my essay. GL junior year though.

Mind if I take a look at it, UVA? I graduated in '07.

Am I not worthy enough to read it ?_?

I’ve applied RD, I’ll take a look. Mine was very unoriginal I’m afraid.

hate to say this UVA, but, if you are the bottom line to getting accepted. I’m so rejected…

Shiiiiiiiiiippppeeed

send it to me? just curious

All right, I read it. It’s definitely a different approach. My Penn essay talked about specfics – specific program, specific professor, specific things. I told about exactly what my academic and career goals were and how Penn would help me achieve them.

Pretty standard.

You took a slightly risky approach which tended to be more “visceral” and subjective, rather than being objective, which usually “why X” college essays are.

That being said, people usually advice to take a little risk in your essays, which you did.

Honestly, I liked your essay, but it wasn’t “stellar”, or something that might alone “get you in”. Just my opinion. I’m no expert on this!

Thanks for the response itsmylife.

Wow yours is so good… Best of luck!
