Why was I rejected...????

It’s not all grades and test scores and lists of extracurriculars. If that were the case, there wouldn’t be an essay section. You just didn’t demonstrate what they were looking for in terms of diversity. Maybe you’re asian, but you don’t have any unique viewpoints or experiences. I got in with a 3.1 and 1910 SAT and wrote the first essay on how becoming an atheist initially has morphed me into who I am today spiritually and intellectually, and my second essay detailed the struggles in my family life and what they’ve taught me and how they’ve made me stronger.

Would you really choose UCLA over UW? UCLA costs at least over 50k now, since the tuition increase, while UW costs around 9k a year. The reason I chose UW over UCLA during my senior year was because I simply couldn’t justify the 5x cost of tuition and board for the same level of education.

to the OP,

Sorry to hear about that, but getting into UCLA, especially for an out of stater, is awesome! I hear UW has been upping their admissions standards and accepting more out of state students. That could have been the reason why.

What other schools did you get into? I’m from CA and I got waitlisted at UCSB and I got into a lot of other CA schools that had an acceptance rate of about 45%. I don’t understand why I didn’t get in with my many extra curricular activities.

You got into UCLA with those stats, OP? Dang, now I’m kinda regretting not applying to Berkeley…:P

Just kidding, that’s beat dude. But hey, UF and UCLA are both awesome schools, don’t let it get you down.

If you were wait listed or rejected, does your UW online transcript still load with an ID number on it?

Their server is throwing an HTTP 500 when I try to load the transcript, so I guess it’s a problem on their end ATM.

30,000 students applied this year for only 6,200 spots. it’s really unfortunate.

Yes, but they usually accept more than 6,200 as they have about a 50% yield for admits. (I think?)

Offered admission = usually about 15,000.
