Why???

I have a question about the reccomendations. Why do they ask for the reccomenders home address?

Thanks
I've just always been curious

I presume to increase the chances that it's a real recommendation from a real person. If it's a form you give to your teacher, though, I don't think you need know his or her home address. Your teacher can handle that part.

I have given recommendations in the past, and some schools request the recommendation directly. That is, the student, or his parents, do not give me the form, but the school contacts me.

I think the recommendations are a very important part in the process, and I applaud efforts to avoid deceit and undue influence on those giving the recommendation.

so if a reccomender didn't pur an address, would I ahve to get a new one? And do they actually mail anything to that address?

I don't think you'd necessarily need a new recommendation (unless the person had a copy saved), but I would have your recommender send a written note to the school stating that he had sent in the recommendation and inadvertantly did not supply his address (which he is now including).
And because I'm a nervous-nellie, I would follow up with the school to make sure they got it and it was acceptable.

yeah okay thanks! do they usually send mail to the address?
